Bad services but fragrant hotel

While we were satisfied with the hotel ambience, filled with fragrant flowers, luxury decoration, and spacious and comfortable room, we were highly disappointed on the hotel’s service. Always underserved services, full of shortfalls. During our stay we sadly faced unsatisfied services that make Leela brand seem to be less valid as the world’s top 3 brands rated by Travel & Leisure. Disappoint#1. Charging for hotel’s mistake to customer? As the hotel did not permit for any knife to be held by customers for security reason, the staff held our fruit knife and is supposed to return to us when we check out. Unfortunately we as well as the hotel staff had forgotten to ask and return the knife at the check-out. When we called for the hotel to send the knife to our another hotel near New Delhi’s airport, the hotel staff will charge us over INR3,000 as they blame us, not them, for this mistake. This is unacceptable for such a five star hotel service!!!! Disappoint#2. No complementary fruit basket in our room. When we asked, the staff simply said maybe our housekeeper forgot and then they just delivered to our room later when we demanded. Disappoint#3. “Very long” waiting time almost one hour for our dinner!!! We went to the hotel’s Indian restaurant for our dinner and order 3 dishes. It turned out we had to wait for almost 1 hour for the meal to come even we saw only fewer than 10 tables to be served in the entire restaurant. Disappoint#4. Overcooked curry chicken dish. After waiting for almost an hour, it was even worse that one of our three dishes for chicken curry had all chicken too overcooked with hard texture. When we told the staff, he then used spoon to test the chicken texture whether it was hard as we told him in front of us. We found this rude as it reflected that they did not trust our words. When he found the truth, he took back the dish and told us to wait for a new dish. After that he came to ask me at least for to five times whether the new one was fine. Why so many? No trust at all. Seem to be insulting feeling to me.

The food and waiter service from Akbar (at breakfast) and Irfan (at dinner in Cafe Knosh) were excellent. The housekeeping team, Tulsi and Saurav, took excellent care of my room for the week. I also received two excellent massages from Rhoda at the spa. I have had an enjoyable stay and look forward to returning next year.
