I was here for a business cum vacation trip and I wish someone had written about the HARD REALITIES of this hotel and current situations so that at least it would not have been an ill informed decision. I will try super hard to be fair and unbiased. If I am not, I apologise, and it will not be because of a lack of trying to be fair. PROS: It has a sort of a vintage feel, you see signatures framed by past guests of esteem and upper echelons some 70- 80 years ago, like a moment frozen for you to see. They have tried super hard to retain the vintage-ness, which is where the cons begin CONS: - I was assured a super deluxe room. 116 is a super deluxe?! if so - EWW. despite repeated requests from day 1 to change the room, NO ONE TOOK CARE OF IT. - had requested for some special celebration for a friend. ok great they accomodated BUT NO COORDINATION IN TIMING FROM FRONT DESK TO KITCHEN. JeezLouissse ppl at least be better than the rest of the hotel chains. Basic coordination guys. Basic! - same breakfast menu every single goddamn day - with change in only 1 item every alternate day so that they can say that the menu is change - no AC no ventilation no fans in their dinig area/restaurant - which means if smoke is choked up due to fresh live cooking - you're going NO WHERE soak in all the smoke, claustrophobic feeling, sweat, heat and what not - rusted bathroom fittings in room 116 - broken window blinds - HIGHLY INFLATED AND OVER CHARGE on basic food items - at any 5 star you'd spend the same for better hygiene and way more amazing taste - but you're spending 700+taxes for a bowl of noodles and same for bowl of fried rice, and 400 for milk+water (sorry I meant to write milkshake but it was no shaking milk for sure) - OMG THE NOISES IN THE NIGHT - So over the road metro (think New York subways, but above the road, mid air) works are going on. Trust me that's NOT GOING ANYWHERE FOR THE NEXT 3-6 YEARS depending on the geo-politics of the region. & I'm from a metro city, it took this place 15-18 years to get their Metro sorted, up and running! So LOL to this one. 3-6 is bare minimum at the very least. - not that that's the hotel's problem, MAYBE THAT'S WHY THE SUPER CHEAP RATES... Damn I should've read between the lines. But no worries you don't have to. They're digging drilling and hammering into the ground with super heavy machinery right in front of the hotel spread all the way across the length of the road, and the hotel itself is by the main road, not even on a side road. Works are ongoing 24x7 rain or shine bang bang bang goes the digger. Splitting headaches are a docs recommendation apparently. - the DEAL BREAKER - Housekeeping Staff - KRISHNA - while overtly courteous in the forst couple of days, and I tipped the guy generously too!! Yet he is a THIEF. Yes, a THIEF. I was checking out, very smartly he doesn't allow me to deposit the keys at the reception desk. Intercepts me midway (he knew before that I'd be checking out that day, yes my mistake I realise that now, never gonna mention it ever again to any one in hotel staff), and while I was sorting out the EXORBITANT food charges, I had forgotten a lovely gift item that had been parcelled and couriered to me, just a couple of hours before (which he, Krishna, witnessed, and we convered too and I mentioned yes I have purchased a gift for a friend). It was boxed and still in its wrapped up form. Like a silly consumer, I too FORGOT my parcel in the room. So while I am getting things sorted, my Uber arrives and I suddenly recall oops, my gift, oh right, Krishna must be there I think, in the room, let me get my stuff. But alas, no Krishna, room open, it gave me a sickening feeling right away, as I went in, I found my parcel box OPENED, VANDALISED, almost torn, gift inside it thrown in the dustbin, and the smaller items within the parcel - MISSING!) Imagine my plight, I am checking out happily thinking oh, I'll meet my friend and give them this special gift, but no, sir, you've been robbed. I raised the alert instantly to reception, trying to keep it cool, thinking no no he's a good guy i am sure he would have taken it away to clear the room, but he will get it to the reception. Yes, he did come to reception, with ONLY one remaining piece out of the several missing. and he gave it so calmly, wrapped up in a bag as if I won't check it and trust him and leave. But no sir, check I did. My items were missing. And I raised hell. The sheer gumption of this fellow is astounding, hilarious and saddening. WHY DID HE IMMEDIATELY NOT RUN TO THE RECEPTION? He may have instead gotten an extra tip for it because it all happened within literally 10 mins of checkout - the interception, the billing, the discovery, and the disappointment. BUT NO SIR, the mindset is ruthlessly backwards and I cannot solve it for my fellow countrymen. PS: They are extra services to the gora man or woman. BUT dare you have brown skin - YOU'RE WORTHLESS. Thank you Grand Imperial, for your parting GRAND IMPERIAL GESTURE. I will remember it for the rest of my life.
