To celebrate our anniversary, my wife and I decided to escape the daily grind and revisit Shimla. Having previously stayed at Cecil and Wildflower Hall, we chose Taj Theog Resort & Spa this time—a relatively new property about 33 km from Shimla. We later learnt it’s the Taj Group’s first hotel in Himachal Pradesh and their first mountain resort—and it truly lived up to the name. Perched on a hillock and surrounded by lush deodar forests, the location is serene, scenic, and perfect for unwinding. We spent hours walking along the forest trails, soaking up the sun and cool breeze under clear blue skies. The natural sounds of the forest were incredibly calming—a perfect therapy for city-weary souls. Despite a two-hour bumpy drive from Shimla, the warm welcome at the hotel instantly refreshed us. The service throughout was excellent—genuine, attentive, and thoughtful. Special thanks to Ms Gungun from the front desk, a thorough professional, who ensured that our stay was smooth and comfortable. The wonderful team at Tragopan Restaurant was equally helpful—especially Miss Thadong, who was always there with a smile and good suggestions, particularly regarding menu choices. Our thanks also to Miss Neeraj and everyone else who remembered our preferences and made each meal enjoyable. There was a minor hiccup when a simple food request (Mung Dal) was turned down, which felt a bit off-brand for Taj, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience. A big shout-out to Mr. Arun Mathews, Director (Operations), who was always present and genuinely invested in guests’ comfort. His personal touch—from escorting us to the dining hall to chatting with us during strolls to the West and North gardens —made us feel truly cared for. Overall, it was a memorable stay, and we would happily like to return. This place is highly recommended for those seeking peace amidst nature, along with the traditional hospitality of the Taj.

We had a wonderful experience at Hotel Taj Theog Shimla. The resort is absolutely stunning and the best one in Shimla. The services provided by the staff, especially Jitesh Thakur and Preeti, were excellent. They were very helpful and courteous. We highly recommend this resort.

We stayed at Taj theog for two days and from the moment we entered the main gate till we left from the place , we received smiles and endless helping gestures all the way through . Special thanks to Reservation team , Miss Gungun at reception , Mr Abhay who took us for a wonderful trekking experience, to Miss Neeraj , Chef Aman at the restaurant , and to Mr Vinod , Mr Sayak and Mr Judhit . The location , ambience , food , activities and overall experience is wholesome . Highly Recommended.
