I am writing to provide feedback regarding my recent stay at Hotel Taj Aravali Udaipur, where I served as the tour coordinator for my group. Unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations in several aspects. I would like to address a discrepancy in the billing. We were charged for meals during our stay, despite being under the impression that meals were included as part of our arrangement as a tour coordinator. This unexpected charge has caused confusion and dissatisfaction among our group members. I trust that these issues can be addressed promptly to ensure that future guests have a more positive experience at your esteemed establishment. Additionally, I kindly request a review and adjustment of the billing to accurately reflect the terms of our agreement. Regarding the checkout procedure during my recent stay at Hotel Taj Aravali Udaipur. As the tour coordinator for my group, I was taken aback by the unexpected halt during the checkout process, where we were asked to settle all dues before leaving the premises. This interruption disrupted our departure plans and caused inconvenience to both myself and the members of my group. While I understand the importance of settling outstanding dues, such matters should ideally be addressed in a smoother and more organized manner, I appreciate your attention to these matters and look forward to your prompt response and resolution.

Great property and very well managed. All employees very friendly and professional, especially impressed by Surajpal ji and Kamal ji. Highly recommend the stay. Gym and the pool and very good. The staff also takes accountability for their mistakes and does well to rectify them.

GREEDY HOTEL WITH NO VERBAL COMMITMENT

Our experience at Taj Aravali Udaipur Resort and Spa during our corporate offsite from 11-14 April 2024 left much to be desired. Despite online rooms being advertised for a reasonable 10-11K, the hotel charged a staggering 18K plus taxes for the corporate offsite, a clear indication of taking advantage of corporate clientele. Unfortunately, the high price did not equate to quality service. Ramanpreet made verbal commitments regarding discounts on à la carte liquor, which were later reneged upon, citing lack of documentation. This lack of integrity and transparency was disheartening, and it became evident that the hotel's revenue department prioritized profit over guest satisfaction. Moreover, despite efforts to negotiate with the director of sales for a discount on rack rates, we were met with resistance and dismissiveness. It became apparent that verbal agreements held no weight, and the hotel was unwilling to accommodate reasonable requests. In addition, while individual travelers were allowed to bring liquor into their rooms, group guests were coerced into purchasing expensive options from the hotel. This inconsistency in policy was frustrating and felt like a tactic to maximize profits at the expense of guests' convenience and preferences. In conclusion, our experience at Taj Aravali Udaipur Resort and Spa was marred by exorbitant pricing, lack of integrity, and inconsistent policies. We caution future guests to exercise caution when dealing with the hotel and to ensure all agreements are documented in writing to avoid disappointment.

Wonderful experience, Beautiful location and well maintained property. The location is such that maintenance is a very tall ask, but the staff and management has done a really good job maintaining property on one side of a mountain. Taj Aravali offered us ability to live in the valley (Traditional Cottage) - Good for summers, and ability to live on the hill top (Luxury tents) as well as right in the middle (Deluxe rooms). The most practical and also the most affordable are the Deluxe rooms - 12x and 13x series specially due to their proximity to restaurants. The most luxurious (in our experience) while maintaining practicability (closeness to facilities) is Traditional Cottage lineup (3xx series). Staff members are very polite, kind and easy to communicate with. On most things, as you'd expect from a Taj-like service, you simply say it and its done, no matter the time or the effort required to make a request happen. What is sometimes missing is the human-touch, that extra warmth you'd expect from a Taj (specifically Taj, not Marriott or ITC or any other property), allow me to present some examples. During our stays at Taj West End, Bengaluru, we were expecting our baby, and during our second night of stay my wife wasn't feeling very well, and so one of the staff members noticed that she wasn't eating anything - without a single prompt, the staff person just walked up to my wife and said "Mam, allow me to get a glass of fresh cucumber, orange, lime juice, you'll probably like it" and he whizzed off to kitchen without even allowing us to respond. On another occasion, as we were checking out of the hotel, my wife, as I was clearing the restaurant bills, softly reminded me to stop for a cup of tea somewhere on the way to our destination. Again the billing person who was taking the payment at the reception heard us, she immediately called up someone in Machan and said "Please get a strong Ginger tea for Mam, she's at the reception with us.". This again didn't require any prompting, or anything. The tea came about 10 minutes later. In both the occasions, they didn't charge a penny, and when I reminded them to charge us, they simply said "Sir, you didn't order, all good." In fact, during one of our earlier stays at Taj West End, once there was some billing discrepancy at the time of check out in the meals. They didn't even bother verifying, they just took our word and proceeded forward with the billing - all to ensure that the experience is smooth and time is given utmost priority. On another occasion, someone from Taj West End staff must have seen a printer in my room, as I had to do some heavy reading. Without any prompt, I received a call in my room from Business center at Taj West End, and the lady on the other side said "Sir, if you need printing or a space to sit and read quietly, you are welcome to use the business center" - Again, didn't bother charging separately or anything. During this stay we were NOT staying in the club room - I was still allowed access to sit and read in Club Lounge - this was the same time when IPL team RCB was in the hotel and their staff too was in the lounge room - I politely asked if they needed privacy in case they were doing some confidential discussions, they awkwardly nodded yes, and I left the room then and moved in to Business center. Several such instances have happened that have awed us of the level of warmth we have experienced at Taj West End. Coming back to Taj Aravali, our experiences with Atul from front desk was amazing as he promptly took care of our room needs given we had our 11 month old baby with us. Our experience with Kamal, Surajpal and other staff at arrival / valet desk was very warm. The restaurant staff felt a little underwhelming/transactional-in-nature at times but I guess that was probably because they were over occupied w/ several requests all around. What was particularly annoying is we asking for baby food (other than Khichdi) and they kept charging us and my wife kept reminding them that usually baby food is not charged - in some cases they would counter-argue that only Khichdi is offered complementary and then only after more to-fro would they waive off the charges for baby food. One would expect a little more human-ness as sometimes the baby would be cranky and crying while staff was busy telling us restaurant policies about khichdi only as complementary baby food, it felt awkward getting transactional penny pinching and at one point, my wife told them point blank - we are here for 6 days, do you expect baby to only eat khichdi for all meals on all days? If not, please consider other items too as baby food as they are for the baby. Hence "baby food". Something similar happened when I required a large printing (250 pages), they asked us to email the document, we emailed, they said it will be done. As I walked off the reception, my wife in the room received a call informing we would charge 1000 + GST for print outs beyond 10-15 pages. I then again walked up to reception to discuss what happened as we had just spoken 5 minutes back and they said they are taking the print outs - they said their manager told them that this would use us half the page stack - so I said let me pay up for a full new page stack (500 pages) (which is around Rs. 400/500). They said it would be Rs. 1000 + GST - it felt weird, here we are in the middle of the village, no other printing service in the vicinity, they said they would print and then there comes penny-pinching - forcing 1000 bucks on someone who has spent close to a lakh (hundred thousand) on their stay. Anyways, that aside, the experience, property maintenance, beauty of location, care taken for needs everything was simply amazing. We specially loved that they took care of Mange shake made out of fresh mangoes on one occasion.
