Suryauday Haveli on Shivala Ghats is a reflection of the spirit of the holy city of Banaras. The Haveli traces its history back to the early 20th century. It was built by the Royal Family of Nepal as a retreat for the aged. It’s now been painstakingly put together again to provide the best ghat experience in Banaras. Your stay begins with a 15 minute boat ride upstream along the famous ghats of Banaras to reach the Haveli. The Haveli is also connected by small alleys and streets leading to the Famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple (15 minutes walk)

The vibe of this hotel is so amazing that you feel at home and at peace. The hotel staff was really helpful and helped us even for kasi mandir darsan tickets. They tried their best to make us feel at home. We went on boat rides in the evening arranged by the hotel itself for ganga aarti. The breakfast was indian and really tasty. Jyotikisan and vikas really helped us with the daily breakfast needs and made our stay even more special. The ganga ghat is really close to the hotel and it was amazing to see it from our room as we took the river view room. Overall an amazing stay

Location, location, location! The location of this hotel (Haveli) is wonderful. It directly overlooks the Ganges River, and I could sit in my air conditioned room and watch a variety of activities in the water and on the Ghat (boardwalk), or I could go to the outdoor relaxing rooftop and observe. The Haveli is about a 15 minute walk from the “center” of the Ganges action where a nightly ceremony occurs (Aarti). The ceremony is visually stunning, and draws a HUGE crowd every night (it’s loud). I loved that the hotel was a little distant this event. The staff was extremely friendly, and the room and bathroom very comfortable. A few things to keep in mind: 1. Try and get a room overlooking the Ganges. The Haveli has about 16 rooms. Half have river views, half don’t. 2. The Haveli will be very difficult to find on your own, and the narrow street/alley does not accommodate cars or tuk-tuks. Hire a guide assist you in finding it on foot - especially if you have luggage. 3. The Haveli has a lovely cafe (4 tables in the courtyard and 6 tables in an air conditioned dining room), and the menu is strictly vegetarian. There is no alcohol. They have a good espresso machine and the staff makes very good coffee drinks.

We had a lovely stay here, and were amazed with the view of the Ganges. The location is great, easy to get to the main spots from. Jyotikishan was very helpful with any of our needs. The food at the hotel was perfect, we didn’t need to find somewhere else for a meal once.

i stayed here for 2 nights. it was so wonderful to stay in this hotel. location is very close from ganga, comfortable to go to main road. food was for vegeterian but it was nice. seeing sun rise on the roof-top, Yoga was great experience. can access free boat tour to watch Puja ceremony. thanks for staying here. especially Hasan, Sandeep, Brijesh, Vikash, Jyitikishan 2박 하였고, 아주 좋았습니다. 강가도 가까웠고, 큰 도로도 가까워서 어디든 가기 편했고, 직원들의 서비스도 아주 훟륭했습니다.

Very decent and respectable hotel, probably the best one next to the ghats if you don’t want to pay a fortune at the palace further up the river. AC works well in the rooms especially with the fans, good hot water for showers - just need to make sure you click the button downwards on the wall to enable the boiler to turn on 15 minutes before the shower as it’s an older building. They ask for remote authorization to charge your credit card but it’s just their phone policy and they honor your rate at booking - no problems here. Staff very friendly, they helped me fix my broken computer bag, and in particular Hassan at the front desk is very helpful in assisting your arrival to the hotel and Faiyaz in housekeeping is very friendly and always goes the extra step to make sure your room is clean and adequate amounts of water etc. Would recommend to anyone staying in Varanasi with a stress free walk up the ghats to avoid the throngs of people. If you stay further away you’d need to commute through the heavy traffic every day - not as fun.
