This hotel was recommended by a tour operator for adding a few days on to my trip in Bangkok (it was booked by myself, however) and it turned out to be a great choice. The views were good, though you really need to be on a higher floor than 1 (which is the second floor for people from the US) to get a proper view. From the rooftop restaurant, however, it's great, just be sure to make reservations if you want to enjoy it at dusk. The location overall was good for exploring the things we wanted to explore. Staff were super nice and very helpful in everything from recommendations, taxis, directions, and more. They really made the stay and time in Bangkok so much easier. The room was a little tight, but plenty big enough for one. The room AC worked well as did the wifi.

Great restaurant with amazing view

We went here after visiting the royal palace. It’s a few minutes walk. The food was very good. Traditional Thai menu and a few Thai/Euro fusion dishes. The views from the restaurant are amazing. It’s an outdoor area but with a constant breeze to keep cool. Lovely staff and well worth a visit - particularly after the palace

I chose Riva Arun for the location, and was not disappointed. It couldn't be better located for Wat Pho, Wat Arun and the Grand Palace. It also has lots of great restaurants in the vicinity, including the hotel restaurant on the top floor, Above Riva, which has simply perfect sunset views of Wat Arun. I arrived well before check in, so was not able to get into the room, but the staff were very helpful, took my bags and let me know that I could get in a little sooner that the 2pm check in time. I particularly enjoyed the cold, welcome tea upon arrival to help counteract some of that heat! The room was spacious, had a great bed and decent blackout curtains, and the shower was great. The air con worked extremely well. There was even a small view of the temple across the river. I would thoroughly recommend the hotel.
