I stayed at the Renaissance Waterfront hotel in Seaport Boston and had a pleasant experience. The staff were friendly and accommodating, making check-in and check-out a breeze. The location is convenient, just a quick cab ride from the airport, although it might be a bit challenging during rush hour. Overall, a comfortable and hassle-free stay.

Watch out for the fees

Beware. They have a $30 destination fee added per night per room plus the fees associated with this charge ($5) per room per night. I'm a stickler for reading the rate details, and I did not see this charge ahead of time. In fact I went on Marriott.com today and looked for a room later this month, and also didn't see the fees mentioned under room rate details. Now the fine print on this charge. They tell you that you have a $30 credit to use at the hotel restaurant or Starbucks but what isn't mentioned is that it is per room per night so if you are a family with two rooms and want to eat at the restaurant only $30 can be applied towards the bill even though you technically have a $60 credit per day. The rooms were fine. Beds were small. Our kids had a hard time fitting two on a bed. Our phone didn't work. When we used the phone in the other room to call the front desk several occasions and no one ever answered. Busy and then dropped. We could only get them to answer if we called from a cell phone. Club Lounge closes Friday at noon which was surprising given that we were in the city. (We see this sometimes in suburbs surrounded by corporate buildings.) We walked in at 10:15 am Friday and all the food was put away. Only could get a couple bottles of water. We have seen much nicer club amenities in other Marriott and Renaissance properties across the country. It was bare minimums here. Area is nice. Feels safe and has some nice restaurants within walking distance. Don't think we would stay here again given all the other Marriott properties available.

The location at the Seaport, and the basic facilities are fine, but they’re let down by the unfriendly attitude of the staff- especially the 2/3 I encountered at the front desk and by possibly the worst restaurant food in a hotel I’ve ever had. ‘More fool you’ you might say, with the wonderful Legal Seafood and Morton’s so close. But I was feeling lazy. An $80 mistake. The calamari was mostly batter. The main course came 3 minutes after the calamari. When I tasted the (mushroom) burger, it was as if it had been soaked in vinegar for a week. The service at the desk and restaurant was so cool it was unfriendly. Other small things irritated - hairdryer in the Men’s gym didn’t work.. no complimentary water in the room ($5 for a small bottle instead(; sauna in the pool area never on, much less hot enough (I tried once- it took almost 90 minutes to reach a useless 140 degrees); so much chlorine in the pool my eyes stung for ages etc. All of this I could deal with (even at $300+ a night), but the bad food and bad attitudes…. No.

Stayed here from Feb 22-25th with my family, we were in Boston for a volleyball tournament. This hotel is no way near 4 stars and very disappointing for a Marriot. Rooms are tired and outdated. Elevators are extremely slow. They did not have enough staff on in the bar so service there was not good. They charge $56 per night for valet parking, which is a joke, given the standard of the hotel. Also, beware of their hidden charges, $30 per night destination fee added onto our bill. We were told at check in that this would be given back via a $30 credit for use in the hotel restaurant. We ate breakfast twice in the hotel and asked for the credit to be applied, however when we got our final bill, it was not there. Woman at check out desk said she could not do anything about this. I would not stay here again.

This was by far my worst Marriott experience ever! I arrived on a red eye flight and called the hotel TWICE to ensure that I would not have any problems with my reservation because I was arriving after midnight. I was assured that everything was gong to be okay with my check-in. When I arrived, it was a completely different story. I was told that I would need to pay for two nights, yet I was only there for less than 24 hours. Upon checking out, I told the manager that was on duty what happened and I was told that I would only be charged for one night, however, when I got my final statement, I was charged for two nights. I have been in contact with management, and was told that they cannot offer a refund for one of those nights that I was charged, complete rubbish! BEWARE!
