Agreed to the opinion from another reviewer, the best day of this hotel is truly long gone. Stayed in this hotel when it was first opened, and it truly stood out even comparing to villa 32 and grand view villa. But this time the experience was truly disappointing. 1. Butler’s room introduction was long and tedious, 20 minutes was spent on introducing the room when we checked in in the evening. 2. Moldly smell in guest room toilet. Probably because of the humidity and poor ventilation, and even the Kleenex straight out of the wooden box smells moldly. 3. Neglect customer safety. I had breakfast in the morning and there was a broken curb. The curb surrounding the vegetation was broken, and the original part and the floor were in the same colour. There was no sign or any kind of warning. I tripped over and almost fell flat on the ground. And most outrageously the waiting staffs next to me ignored my mishap and only focused on talking to other guests. Only after 15 minutes one of the chief waitress came over to ask if I was alright. I didn’t know what kind of hospitality it is. But I definitely will not recommend this hotel to any of my friends and readers on TripAdvisor. Anyway, I doubt they care about this review as I don’t see them replying the latest comments on TripAdvisor. Just want to let the readers know not to waste money here.

I had been here several times throughout last decade before Covid. Its always here or villa 32 whenever I want onsen but only have a weekend to spare. It was all very nice. Good food, authentic Japanese setting, clean room, good onsen. However not this time! The hotel room seemed less clean, the towel wall and the coffee table is not in best condition, the telephone was a little oily to touch. They also dramatically downgraded their breakfast. I’m very surprised to be honest. Goodbye kagaya, you had your great days.

It’s been the 2nd time stayed at this hotel, last time was before the outbreak of Covid-19. Seems everything as same as before, service is good, environment is nice. It’s a Japanese style hot spring resort, it made u feel like went to Japan😂 Hot spring facilities is good, u can have hot spring bath at room, in case u don’t want to have it at public bath room. Breakfast is good quality, but I stayed for 4 days so we got bored with it, it’s the same things daily 😂😂😂 Close to supermarket, restaurants, Metro stations, ver convenient

A taste of Japanese hospitality & hot spring experience

We decided to book Radium Kagaya hotel in Beitou after recommendation by our Taiwanese friends for its hot spring, hospitality & experience. It turned out to be quite an enjoyable 2 day stay for our first trip to Taiwan with my wife & baby girl. The hotel is more expensive than other hot spring hotels, but we believed it is worth the extra expense for the services & experience, except for a minor negative incident below. Pros: 1) We stayed in the Japanese style room 1018 with a beautiful view of the park & Beitou museum and library, and our room came with a private onsen bath too 2) As it is a Japanese themed hotel, most of the staff we met are amazingly hospitable 3) Buffet Breakfast daily was served 7-10am on the 3rd floor, and was one of the highlights during our 2 day stay. The staff were all so attentive, especially as we have a baby girl with us. More than once, the staff were asking me if they could carry the tray of food & hot cup for me to our table because I was carrying our baby girl. They also proactively provide a nice blanket for the baby chair to prevent our girl from slipping down 4) Radium Kagaya provides free shuttle bus transfer between the Beitou MRT train station to their hotel regularly. Remember to pre-book each way to ensure seats because the van can only take 8 at a time 5) Very elegant & classy looking hotel which is centrally located in Beitou, right next to the Beitou library & museum, and all the eatery are 5-10min walk away, including the Xinbeitou train station 6) Hotel is kids friendly, & they even provide kids yukata & toilet amenities with matching kids futon bath. A very nice touch! 7) Minibar in each room is complimentary & get replenish each day. It includes beer, ice coffee, pocari swaet energy drink etc 8) Each room comes with a toilet that have a high end Japanese-style bidet 9) 6th floor has a nice setting for photo opportunity 10) We celebrated our birthday during our stay, and the hotel staff surprised us with a beautiful birthday cake to our room Cons 1) The only negative experience we had was with a female staff member. It was winter raining season with non-stop rain during the 2 days of our stays. While we saw many guests with Radium Kagaya distinctive purple umbrella each, we were told by a female staff to share one purple umbrella between my wife, my baby and I because they were trying to ration the umbrella to all guests. Even though we saw more purple umbrellas in the racks, we tried to be accommodating, & decided to try one umbrella between 3 of us. However, after 5 min walking out from the hotel in the rain, and getting wet, we had no choice but to return and ask for another umbrella. This time, another staff member immediately brought out another umbrella for us to use. My wife was quite upset by then because our baby & her were already wet, and felt the staff could have been more accommodating to our needs in the first place. Overall it was an enjoyable trip, and would have been excellent & five star if not for the negative experience with the umbrella incident on day 2.

We come here quite often, but this time, the quality of service just got worse. As a whole, its just not maintain as it used to be. You can really see the management is cutting the budget from amenities to staff, but we are still paying for a high price for the services.
