As part of our India wedding experience, we stayed a night at River Retreat. The resort is rustic and laid back, very Kerala! The accommodations were nice. The spa, bar and restaurant were amazing! Great service! Treatments are Ayurvedic, so very different then a standard massage. Beautiful location!

Hotel is equipped with neat and clean rooms. Extra bed is also fine and hotel staff is also co-operative. Hotel is nearby to railway station. No experience of hotel food. It is to be considered that there is a BAR inside hotel.

Stayed there as was stranded during the recent floods in kerala Rates within budget of common man The hotel is very good and close to the bus stand and railway station The staff and management very.good and humble that they even offered a discount to is as we were stranded They even accomodated us even though they had other bookings Food also very good at a reasonable price Will stay thete whenever I visit Shoranur

I actually enjoyed my room but the manager of this hotel has no hospitality experience at all. First of all he was taking photos of my passport with his personal phone after already making copies with machine and required my USA phone number. My India number has always been acceptable during check ins and never have they taken personal photos of my documentation felt creepy. I have travelled India the last 7 month's not once has anyone done this. Then he tried to up charge me for my meal and then claimed they had a new menu... with new pricing... yet it wasn't available and the menu I ordered from looked brand new.... why would I pay more then the listed price? Not sure if he just tries to steal from foreigners or what but he tried to up charge my tandoori chicken by over 200 rupees not to mention every other item on the bill. Worst part was he left the poor waiter who spoke maybe 3 words of english to hash it out with us... we didn't even give the waiter a hard time we just went straight to the manager... but then the waiter was at the door after 9pm wanting us to sign the bill again with same price! In addition, I misplaced the key our last day there. After informing 4 people at front desk I was told "No tension" like 5 times at least and they let me into the room no problem. Upon check out he then started freaking out about the key. I told him I had reported the key missing 5 hours ago and had told him to prepare the bill 30 minutes in advance I wasn't going to miss my train I was leaving. We had paid over 16,000 rupees for last minute 2nd a.c. tickets and shipping for two motorcycle plus wrapping of the bikes for another 1000 rupees. I wasn't missing this train due to his lack of organization and professionalism. I have to say the staff was amazingly courteous and took care of my every need. Manager should be fired. Give the job to some one with a degree in hotel managment!

We booked this hotel for a wedding function in December 2016. While booking we were impressed with the staff and the manager. Rooms are clean and good. During the stay it was noticed that the hot water was not available in the morning. After fighting with staff and calling the GM hit was made available in buckets. Coffee/ tea was not served during early hours. A good hotel that needs show that they practice what they preach.
