We stayed here in January and arrived in beautiful sunshine to a welcoming Kumar and Ravine. They made us feel very welcome and organised Jeep safaris at a reasonable price where we saw a myriad of jungle animals. The food was great and the location is right near an elephant corridor where they come to drink. When you book a Jeep make sure you ask for Devan, an excellent guide! The rooms are a good size, basic but clean and containing all the essentials. I would recommend staying here as a good base for your exploring.

I am a UK professor and have travelled (for research) to India six times in the last two years. I am a fairly hardy and experienced traveller and do not expect luxury. Places I have stayed in India include five star hotels but also ashrams and ‘basic’ accommodations. I stayed at Jungle Paradise for one night (on recommendation of the driver—who had never been there, and will not now return), on the way from Nilgiris to Bangalore, as a ‘one day break’ from my research. First, the positives of ‘Jungle Paradise’. The lads running the place are friendly, the place is surrounded by trees and plants, and the room is reasonably clean with ‘some’ hot water in the bathroom. The negatives though strongly outweighed the positives. The first is the price—INR 4500 is outrageous when compared with other places in the area, but also compared to a very nice four star hotel I stayed at in Bangalore (almost the same price). Given what you get (see next) it is absolutely overpriced and not acceptable. I would ‘consider’ staying here again, for INR 1500 (given what is in the area) but certainly not INR 4500. Second, the room we stayed in, although clean, and having a nice terrace shared with other rooms and some nice murals on the wall, had NO ATTENTION TO DETAIL. Not one place to put one’s stuff (not even one table, side stand, hook????). This was a ‘throw two beds in a room’ without thinking about the people actually staying there and let us make lots of money—no attention to detail, which can be done for relatively little extra money. The bathroom was similar—typical Indian bathroom, but no hooks to put clothes? It just has not been thought out. We had dinner (pepper chicken) and breakfast (two pieces of white bread with a battered egg on the outside—an attempt at French toast?). The food was amongst the poorest I’ve had in my six trips to India. I thought the location would be nice, but one needs to drive out a ways to get to the park and animals. However, one strong recommendation (but we had to ask someone outside the hotel) is to go to the bird watch tower—about 15’ walk next to the river—but do ask your way. This ‘almost’ made it worth it. Avoid any trips they try to sell you—they are overpriced. All in all, a poor experience, from the point of view of an experienced and generally non-fussy traveller.
