Good hotel but Club room is pretty poor for the price paid. The staff were all lovely in the Club Lounge but the food offering is poor and had to wait 30 mins, when busy, for a simple refill of a glass of wine. They offer cocktails but that takes up the bartender's time and everyone else has to wait in line for a refill. Same food every night, not well replenished. We wish we'd just stuck with classic room and used our spare cash to purchase wine on the spectacular top floor lounge rather than the club lounge. Also asked for free ironing service of 2 items (which is included ) only to be advised I had an iron in my room. Love IHG lounges normally - that's why we booked but this was not a great experience. The hotel itself is in a fabulous location so it wasn't all bad.

Just a few blocks from Sydney Opera House, Circular Quay and the Botanicals Gardens. Wonderful spacious, comfortable, high floor room with view of harbour and botanical gardens. Just a few details to improve: Everything is high-tech in the room and that proves quite annoying: All lights are interconnected, so you have 3 choices: either all ON, all OFF, or very dimmed "night" ambiance. If your partner wants to read while you sleep with one light only, it's impossible! Curtains move when you touch them. Fine and dandy! But that means they can only be either totally open or closed. How about half way? Also, the interior pool, so nice on a rainy day, or after walking all day, is too small, too noisy, and has only 3 lounge chairs. It's impossible to swim or enjoy it with kids jumping in, splashing and screaming! It would be judicious to have separate times for adults only, like 7pm to 9pm.

Excellent service from when we arrived to when we left. Staff were amazing and room was beautiful. Very clean and comfortable. As this trip was for my partners birthday, we received 2 bottles of wine which was bought to our room with a birthday message. Breakfast was amazing and the variety of food was enormous. Gym and pool also great. Everything was clean and just beautiful. Would definitely stay here again.

Yet, my recent visit to the InterContinental Sydney starkly deviated from the exceptional experience at the InterContinental Bali, not only in terms of service but in the integrity of management's commitments, leaving a particularly sour taste.Unfulfilled Promises: A Reflection of Customer Service The cornerstone of my grievance with the InterContinental Sydney isn't just the poor customer service—it's the broken promise by hotel management to personally reach out and address my initial negative experience. After voicing my dissatisfaction on social media, a public platform where businesses often pledge to rectify customer grievances to maintain their image, I was assured of a direct call to discuss my concerns. This call never came. This stark breach of trust contrasted deeply with my experience in Bali, where the staff went above and beyond to ensure satisfaction, proving their dedication to guest happiness wasn't just for show.Wasting Points and Money: A Regrettable Decision As a discerning traveler and a loyal IHG member, I choose to spend my points on experiences that promise both luxury and memorable hospitality. Bali fulfilled this promise, making every point spent feel like an investment in unparalleled memories. In contrast, Sydney’s failure to deliver on basic expectations of service and quality, coupled with the management's disregard for their commitments, rendered my investment—both in points and money—a regrettable expenditure. The disparity in value received between these two properties is a glaring indictment of the inconsistency within the InterContinental brand.The Bitter Aftertaste of Neglect My experiences at both hotels could not have been more different. Bali was a haven of attentiveness and care, where every interaction with the staff added to a tapestry of cherished memories. Sydney, on the other hand, was a lesson in neglect—from the unacknowledged arrival without even the simplest gestures of hospitality to the profound disappointment of unkept promises by the management. It was a stark reminder that not all InterContinentals are created equal.A Call to Action for Sydney’s Management This review serves not just as feedback, but as a call to action for the management of InterContinental Sydney. The disparity in service and accountability between your properties is a wakeup call.
