We had a quick two nights stay at this hotel which was suggested as centrally located and comfortable for stay. The facilities we could try were limited to banquet, room service, breakfast but still every aspect was perfectly arranged and hotel also has great swimming pool and gymnasium.

Worst Experience Ever, Not a 5 Star and two nights NO sleep

1/5

·

Bav74 on Apr 04, 2024

This is probably my worst experience ever staying in a hotel which its meant to be 5 star. I have stayed in Hyatt in Amritsar and it was amazing hence booked this place and this hotel its definitely not worthy oof the star rating it has. When arrived at the hotel no-one welcomed us or helped in unloading our luggage from the vehicle and moving it into the property. My driver unloaded the luggage and then t was sat outside for a number oof minutes before I highlighted the luggage needs to be bought inside. We had arrived late at the hotel and at check-ini one of the chaps who checked us in was obviously in a bad mood as he did not smile and he was using a curt tone from a frustration with a previous guest. He handed me the check in card and I commented that it doesn't hurt to smile. I asked if my luggage will be bought to the room and he said go over there and tell them and they will bring it. Upon check in I have never had to worry about luggage as it is a smooth operation and the luggage gets to my room flawlessly. The chap who checked us in did not even explain the hotel and how to get to the room. I had to ask the question and confirm I had Half Board included and the response I got was these are the two lifts and the restaurant is on the first floor. I went to concierge and gave them my room details and asked for my luggage to be taken to the room whilst I go for my evening meal. Again I waited a long time before I was acknowledged which made me feel totally invisible. I went for dinner and even there the service was appalling. I gave the room number to the host and she did not even show me the table or ask f it was my first visit. I walked in and waited to be shown to a table which I was not so I proceeded to sit at any table. No one approached us for a long time after which I stop up and went to one of the managers and said the service was awful and no one has greeted us, offered us a drink or explained our food options. He apologised and the disappeared off before he came back and said this is all the buffet help yourself except we are closing in 30 minutes so be quick. Which is rubbish. After dinner I entered the room and there was an awful damp smell and the carpets felt a bit damp too. I looked in the bathroom and only one of everything was left although the room was booked for two people. I had to phone housekeeping to bring nearly everything again so there was enough for two people. They had left soap bars but no soap dish to put it on. When Housekeeping came I explained there are two of us and that we need enough items for two people, so all he bought was 1 more bath towel and a soap bar. I said we needed more hand towels, face towels, other toiletries for bathing, etc, etc. Surely as a guest I shouldn't have to tell the housekeeping guy what is required in the room. In terms of the rest oof the room then 1 it was dark and two is was not clean looking. The bedsheets had stains on it which I had to report and get changed, the carpet was lifting in places and in one place there was a massive dip in the floor. proceeded to finally have a shower and the rain shower knob would not work no mater what I tried. I called housekeeping and they confirmed it was stuck and that they wold call housekeeping. The housekeeping guys shoes were fillthy and after stepping in the shower he left foot prints all over the bathroom floor and passage way. I pointed this out and he cleaned it but left the floor really wet and I nearly slipped whilst waiting for maintenance. Maintenance eventually after 20 minutes of waiting arrived and when he looked at the shower he said you pull the lever out before turning oon the water. I explained this is the only hotel room where this is the case and if I pull the water lever whilst standing under the water I would either get burnt when I turn the water on or get cold, so how is that practical. I pointed this out and the maintenance guy was extremely rude and said well that's how it works whether you like it or not so use it that way or lump it. This angered me and I requested to speak to management. And again the Maintenance Guy left foot marks everywhere. By the time the management came it was 1:30am so imagine after a long journey I am having to deal with all of this. The manager confirmed that it is not appropriate. I asked them to show me without asking maintenance how the shower is used and they said you turn the water on first wait for the right temperature and then pull the lever out which is the correct way but opposite to what the maintenance guy told me. They were embarrassed and didn't know what to say. They said would I like to change room, but they saw my mum had already gone to sleep and didn't want to disturb her. I agreed we would stay ini that room for that night but we were happy to change the room the next day, so in the morning I packed all my bags ready to be moved. Next morning I met the Duty manager who listened with intent and was very apologetic. She was throwing everything at me in terms of services, like lunch, spa and anything else to make up for what I had been through. I took up the lunch and a discounted Spa Treatment as well as a free transfer the airport, as I saw this as making up for the night before as the Manager had promised a much better rom once we were back from our tour. I advised the Manager that my bags were all packed and could be moved to the new room. After returning from my tour I spoke to the manager and she provided me a much nicer room with a balcony. I was very happy at that time and thought she is going out of her way and things can only get better. When we got to the room our luggage was not there and we had to wait a while for the luggage to be bought to us especially after a tiring tour during the day. So the rest of the day went well and the restaurant service had slightly improved so I thought ok things are going ok finally. I went back to the room with my mum for our second night and again the room was not furnished with enough toiletries so again I had to request quite a bit as the amenities were only enough for one. Once we both showered we relaxed and I went to sleep. Then at 2:30am I was woken up with a very loud humming and water filling sound. I called reception and they said they would send someone. Between 2:30am and 4:30am I did not sleep and called reception 3 more times to send someone t the room. The noise stopped at 4:30am and the at 4:35am the maintenance guy had come with a ladder to check if everything was ok. Really conveniently no one came for tw hours and he arrived just as the noise stopped, so I sent him on his way. I thought finally. can sleep then the staff at 6:30am were putting the cushions on the sun loungers and they decided to have a very loud conversation across the swimming pool. I had to call reception to ask for them to speak quietly as guests were sleep ing in the room. When I looked out after 10 minutes I saw a manager after which things quietened down and I though I can sleep again. Then at 7:30am again two members of staff were shooting at a cleaner directly outside my balcony and having massive go at him, saying how incompetent he s, how he hadn't done what he had promised, also he is getting paid and doing no work and taking advantages. At this stage I was thinking these staff have already been told to keep quiet and they still haven't learnt and now they are shouting at someone literally an hour later. I opened the curtain to my balcony and banged the window after which he looked at me embarrassed and they quickly went inside. When I was going for Breakfast I entered the Gym and Spa Reception and asked who the chap with the white T Shirt was, he then walked out and introduced himself as Avinash. I had a serious chat with him as I was angry and said what common sense he has and why was he shouting so loudly especially when he was told to be quiet at 6:30am. His answer was, I didn't know there were guests in the room. Soo the moral is Hyatt is a hotel so off course there is likely to be guests n the room and second the assumption that there may not be anyone in the room isn't acceptable especially with the behaviour and shouting at other staff inhumanely. No one should be spoken to in an inhumane way regardless of their role or stature with the organisation. After breakfast I realised I may have got a bit too angry and went back and apologised for my temper and the things I had said, but also explained that he works for a hotel and there should be a certain way he should be acting as an employee. He recognised this and looked to the floor in shame. I can write a lot more, but it is exhausting thinking about my trip. Two nights of no sleep. I had even asked Expedia to contact the hotel to request a 1 day refund for the inconvenience and problems which were recognised by the hotel, only for Expedia to say they never got a response from the Hotel Management even after sending several correspondence to the hotel. Overall I would say this is my worst experience ever and have been staying in 5 star hotels for over 25 years. This hotel has left a massive scar and because of this one property I will be avoiding all Hyatt hotels. This hotel is a black mark for those Hyatts which are good and I would recommend gif anyone is considering this hotel, then dont waste your money as there are much better properties nearby. Apologies for such a negative review, but I believe in being honest with all my reviews

Decent property-old building, could have been maintained better. The standards and services are equivalent to that of a four star stay. The food and breakfast served is good. Staff is polite and friendly.
