Old world charm meets modern day comforts

We enjoyed a fantastic 5 day stay at Highlands Park, where old world charm meets modern comfort. Since we were staying for a long time + came to Gulmarg to ski, we booked the suite for more space. The suite was huge, with a separate den, bedroom, changing area and 2 bathrooms. The room had two fireplaces, which were always well lit. The staff made sure our room was toasty and warm every afternoon before we returned from our ski sessions. I read a few reviews about calling room service every now and then to light up the fires being annoying, but we didn't find it inconvenient at all. In fact, we loved the charm of the fire place rather than modern day heating devices. Room service is prompt and very efficient. Our morning tea arrived everyday at 7am sharp. The food at the hotel is excellent! Be it Indian, Italian, Asian... We enjoyed our dinners and breakfasts thoroughly. I read reviews about the food being expensive but the portion sizes are massive and enough for 4 people. So if you are travelling in a group, the food is actually reasonably priced. The hotel has a lovely bar, which unfortunately we didn't get time to use. If you are planning to ski, the hotel is right by the basic slopes. However, a bit far (10 mins by car) from the Gondola. All in all, we were very happy with our decision to stay here and will likely come back next ski season too!

I rediscovered Highlands Park a couple of years ago, after possibly 40 years! One had heard stories of a newer, much starred competitor lower down in the marg, but my visit a couple of years ago reinforced beyond doubt that Gulmarg still means HP. With that in mind, a group of 40 visited in September 2023 to bring in my 60th birthday. The weather had begun to turn and the bukhari-warmed rooms had just the perfect balance of modernity and old world charm. You’re embraced by nature as you step out of your room, surrounded by green meadows, hills and colourful flower beds. The lounge is a melting pot for the guests and the kitchen serves delectable Kashmiri & Continental fare. If you’re willing to surrender yourself to nature and old world charm, look no further than Highlands Park. Trust me, you won’t regret it!

One of the most prettiest hotels in gulmarg who has maintained its beauty till date. They have a table tennis room. vintage charm is everywhere right from the dining restaurant to the bar. They have these olden days wood fired heaters in rooms and common areas. Food was too notch, service was so special. The prettiest flowers you would find in all of gulmarg is here. Special mention : guests list includes Indira gandhi, Rishi kapoor, shahrukh khan, dimple kapadi, etc..

Wonderful grounds and staff

Lovely rooms with an all-important heater in the bathroom. Also have facility for a fire in the bedroom for when it is cold. The standout in the property was the grounds. Respect and admiration for the gardener, it was stunning. We took more pictures of the hotel grounds than of anything else in Gulmarg. Must mention the staff, a group of 'butlers' or valets is assigned to each area. These guys looked after us so well, hot water, tea, offers to light a fire in the room. Restaurant made adjusted items for the menu to children's taste. Thanks to everyone for a lovely holiday experience.

Atop a hillock. Surrounded by meadows and snow mountains. Beautiful breathtaking views all around which is a plus point for this place. Free Car parking available. You have to walk up a few steps from the car park to reach the reception. Check in and Check out is quick. Check out time is 12 noon. Rooms are located at different levels. Some are a few minutes walk from the reception. 'Bobby' suite is at the top. There is a lawn and sit out chairs with umbrellas in front of each room. Room size is small with a bukhari ( for heating). There is a heater in the toilet also. There is a small dressing room between the bedromm and bath.. Big screen TV in the room. Room interiors are wood panelled and toilets are modern with a bath tub. Interconnected rooms also available. No tea/coffee maker in the room. In room safe is available. Toiletries are provided. Free WiFi available. The floor in our room was sunk in one area which was covered with a carpet. At times monkeys jump on the roof and can disturb especially if one is having an afternoon siesta. Restaurant and a lounge bar is situated next to the reception. One has to climb a few steps to reach there. The lounge bar is tastefully decorated and overlooks the meadows and the mountains with comfortable seating. One of the very few hotels in Kashmir with a bar. Breakfast is ala carte. Apart from fresh fruit one can order eggs/parathas/poori/upma/poha etc. Service is quick Lunch and dinner food menu includes mughlai, kashmiri,and Chinese vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. Dinner time starts at 7.30 PM and last order for dinner is at 9.30 PM. Food is cooked well and the portions are reasonable. The roti is very big in size so small eaters should order only one. There is a wait staff sitting all the time near a group of rooms for any service if needed. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
