A VERY BAD STAY EXPERIENCE

I stayed at this property during my leisure vacation to Kolkata from 10-12 Jul 2023. The location of the hotel is good, its centrally located and hence nearby to most of the tourist places. A cab can easily take Rs. 120-290 to go anywhere in the park street/college street area.We were four people so we took dzire to roam around. ABOUT THE HOTEL - It's an old property, even though the location is good, The security guards were attentive and always had smiles on their faces. However, the overall experience with the property is really bad. CHECK-IN- It was smooth, we booked two rooms and they kindly offered us the rooms earlier than the check-in time for which we were grateful. They also have a small lift which is pretty helpful for people who cannot climb or walk much otherwise the height of the floors is not much, one can easily climb the stairs. RESTAURANT - They have a Chinese restaurant as well. The Chinese food is decent and delicious for the price you pay. The Indian food was really bad. ROOMS - We took one double bed and one twin bedroom (A2/A3 rooms). The rooms look okay at first but the more you spend time inside you discover something new. Like the bed sheet/linens were old and dirty. The blanket was coming out of the duvet cover, The pillows were too hard to sleep on. The floor under the bed was really dirty like it was never ever cleaned for ages. The bathroom corners are spider-webbed and very dirty. Although the hot water worked fine. The bathroom amenities were less (only one shampoo and one soap) They need to understand if someone has booked on double occupancy then the amenities should be enough for two people. Other amenities like laundry bags/shaving kits / dental kits were in demand. If you want you need to call them and ask them which is again not so convenient to most people like me. The television was not working in # A3, upon calling the staff it was of no help from their side too, it seemed like they never recharged the set-top box. The wall fixture/ and bedside socket were broken and a ceiling light in # A2 was not working. The back side of the hotel was very bad, it was a dirty rooftop and it has never been cleaned too, the windows lock doesn't work so sleep at your own risk. The file on the bedside table with house rules/ welcome letter/ and menu card was really dirty like it was so old that it was kept for a decade there. The AC in the room was so noisy. BREAKFAST - It was located on the ground floor banquet hall (pine hall) - The spread was decent with milk, cereals, boiled eggs, one type of cut fruit mostly papaya, one Indian dish, bread, with butter/jam & tea/coffee. They have only one toaster which made the process to toast the bread very slow. The service people who served the breakfast were extremely friendly, attentive, and quick. However, they need to work on their breakfast menu as it was repetitive and not exciting. ROOM SERVICE - When we checked in, a bell boy assisted us with baggage, we asked him for an extra towel as I said they kept everything in one piece. He never came back with that extra towel. It was the biggest turned-off. Later in the night, we asked the housekeeping if they have a softer pillow, and they straightly said NO without even checking or anything. So if you have neck pain/cervical and planning to stay here keep that in mind. Overall the service from the housekeeping wasn't good at all. The wifi was slow too. I have to mention this they have a phone near the banquet hall, on the housekeeping desk, that phone always rings/ all the time to the extent that it disturbs your sleep and irritates you. They need to keep someone there just to attend to that phone. CHECK-OUT- It was quick and smooth. The reception staffs were welcoming and kind. OVERALL - It's a very basic hotel, you cannot expect anything for the price you pay, we booked through make my trip and we paid an average 2500 per room per night considering it an off-season, which is a decent price. but in Nov-Dec the room costs will hike and it will not be worth the same service and amenities.

Unprofessional GM of the hotel -Mr. Sudeep Das

The GM of the hotel is unprofessional he misbehaved and mis communicated with one of our corporate client. He does not even know how to manage the bookings and unnecessarily bothered our client during his 11 nights stay. I would ask everyone not to book this hotel at all and we would backlist this hotel from our company. If the owner of the hotel or any senior is reading this review please take strict action against Mr. Das.

Hotel rooms are below average with basic amenities and the washroom is extremely tiny. The surrounding area is not highly recommended to stay as I felt a lot of unnecessary stares and comments from the neighbourhood which made me both awkward and scared. These incidents happened in daytime as well. This area is not so clean as well. However hotel staffs are extremely amicable and they tried to help in each single matter from relevant c-port charger managing (I remembered one of the staffs gave his own charger for a full day even), searching quality bindiya or even finding a money exchange outlet nearby.

Very Medicore hotel

Very Medicore hotel. It's quite far from the main park Street area as well. The most dissapointing thing was there were so many mosquitoes in the bathroom. Seems like it wasn't cleaned. Hardly any room fr the place to walk as well. The breakfast was bellow standards. I found the food to be stale as well. Avoid this hotel if u are not on a budget. I would recommend to spend a bit more and stay in newer properties which offer something more. My rating is 2/5 fr this property.

This is a homely hotel. The staff are very helpful and courteous. The rooms are clean with adequate amenities. The food however requires some improvement. Complementary breakfast served is average and at par with most other hotels of the class. However, it's a huge boon that the hotel is centrally located.
