Great Stay for Newbies to the Motor City!

Our family of three just finished a two-night stay in Detroit for a quick Spring Break trip. We are a very well-traveled family, and we were very impressed by the hospitality and cleanliness of the city. The hotel was very clean, and the staff was great. While in town, we went to a Pistons Game at the Little Caesars Arena, which was a very easy 15-minute walk from the hotel. The hotel is also super close to Comerica Park and Ford Field. Several food places are also walkable, including Buddy's, which is just a block or two down from the hotel. Motown was a quick 10-minute drive, and Ford Museum was a 20-minute drive away in Dearborn. The only critical feedback was that the room was a bit dark, could use more lights, and our iron was broken, and I mean shattered, something we did not realize until after we put water in it, and it all leaked out the bottom. It was a little concerning, considering it was plugged in; luckily, no one got a shock. However, after we called the front desk, they very promptly brought us a new one. Overall this was a great hotel stay, and I would recommend it to others.

Rooms smaller than expected for 2 queen beds but clean and well stocked with linen. Housekeeping is not provided for 2-night stay. Exceptionally friendly service. Best location for stadium and restaurant row, both less than 2 blocks walking distance.

I absolutely enjoyed my stay in December at the Hilton Garden Inn in Downtown Detroit. My room was CLEAN and comfortable! The hotel was clean, modern and staff was friendly. We were headed to a concert and enjoyed being in close proximity to Little Caesars Arena. We actually were able to walk back from LCA to the hotel. The valet service is top-notch. Hilton Garden Inn is where you want to be if you're looking for a nice, comfortable, modern CLEAN room in Downtown Detroit. The hotel also offers a full dining service. My husband and I ordered dinner before our concert. I had salmon which was delicious. He enjoyed his burger. Full service bar as well.

First time here - assigned room had bed that looked like it was not made, so asked for another room. That too had a bed with wrinkled sheets. Asked for fresh sheets from housekeeping, decided to change the sheets myself. Furnace in room didn't quite warm the room enough. Even at max setting, room temp stayed at 71. Place looking a bit dated - no amenities provided. While the decor has been updated, there are signs of rust encroaching here and there. No free breakfast, as membership status is not recognized. Fitness room definitely needs to be updated. Couple of treadmills, elliptical and cycle with free weights. Room will be crowded with more than 4 people in it. Good thing though, is an enclosed business center instead of one in the lobby. No coffee available throughout the day (unlike other HGI). Close proximity to many food options, in downtown area.

Michael and the rest of the staff, including the valet folks were kind and helpful. The room was clean and in walking distance to Ford Field. We had a wonderful time! We missed breakfast hours and were able to use our food credit on snacks instead. Will stay again!
