I spent three fun days at the Fremont Hotel and Casino. Check in was a breeze, Free Valet parking for guests. Rooms are on the smaller size but have been renovated and are really nice. Boyds has two other properties in the downtown area, so you have three options for building up your rewards points. If you have limited mobility like me, you can get around easily to all the properties on Fremont Street. Lots of dining options at the hotel and close by. The staff was friendly, and the cocktail service was tremendous.

Rooms are newly renovated and clean. Small but very clean and updated, we liked it. I'm laughing at some of the reviews - people complaining about family friendly. You brought kids to Fremont Street because you thought a place lined with casinos, street bars, and half naked street performers was a great place for families? Or the one that had their phone stolen because they left it on a machine and now claim its a giant crime ring? Come on people. Some personal responsibility. Do some research before you go somewhere - Fremont Street is a really fun place for adults that like to party. It's loud late at night. And if you leave a phone lying around someone of the thousands and thousands of people might take it. Common sense. But the room at this hotel was nice, if you are an adult that likes Freemont Street fun.

Aweful. Had my brand new iPhone 15 stolen from my slot machine and informed security. Rather than look at the film and help me retrieve my phone, they refused to help and referred me to police who also did nothing. As a result, the thieves have turned our lives upside down with a multitude of fraudulent transactions. I have contacted security there and the corporate office of Boyd and offered no help. The Fremont casino is unsafe and obviously the criminals know there is no downside. The magnitude of their crimes suggest that crime rings roam without consequences. Additionally, the jackpot we hit took 48 minutes to get paid as compared to 10-15 at a superior casino. Waitresses were few and far between with a universal snarl when delivering drinks. Do yourself a favor and go to Circa or the amazing El Cortez nearby.

For my first time staying in the Downtown area I was very impressed with this hotel and would certainly stay again. Checking in was the fastest and most seamless process I’ve ever had in the city and there were never any queues at the reception throughout my stay. There’s plenty of lifts serving each of the floors and again I never had a wait. Although my standard room was small it was modern and spotlessly clean, clearly having recently been refitted. The lighting throughout was good, with reading lights, plenty of lamps and a ‘mood light’, plus the TV was a great size for the room. There was an ironing board in the reasonably sized wardrobe as well as a coffee machine, but the mini bar remained empty. The air-conditioning worked really well without being too noisy and sleep quality was wonderful. The only issue some people might have is noise from the street experience outside was loud, so if that’s likely to be bothersome try asking for a room furthest away. The bathroom was equally as clean and modern as the main bedroom area with a fantastic shower and wonderful soft towels. Overall it was a great value stay and I’ll certainly be considering it again next time I’m in the city.

If you are traveling with kids, this is NOT the place to go. Little did I realize when booking that the "Fremont Experience" means not getting any sleep even with ear plugs on the 14th floor facing away from Fremont St. I will NEVER stay here again. There is also quite a problem with multiple homeless people frequenting the area, including sleeping right outside of the Downtown Container park. For those who don't know, smoking indoors is still allowed in the casinos, and even on a smoke free floor, you can still smell it. Housekeeping no longer comes daily unless you ask every morning before 10am for them to clean your room, they are also supposedly phasing out the coffee makers according to one of the evening front desk staff who told me that was why my coffee was not replenished. This turned out to be a lie, at least for the time being, as she later called and said she found a couple coffees, and then two days later the housekeeper that she didn't ask to clean our room left more. For the record, the cheapest place to find coffee is McDonald's at the D, as Dunkin Donuts is over $4 just for regular brewed coffee. For fellow Canadians who are used to traveling to Vegas on the cheap, that is no longer the case. The prices of everything are astronomical, with prices being the same or more before factoring the current 40 cent exchange. Some places also insist on a credit card, which will add 3.5% more to your already inflated rates. The one good thing at the Fremont Hotel is the valet, it's included in the resort fee and the staff are all fast and friendly. For families, perhaps consider the Cancun resort by Hilton, it has a pool and is off by itself and quiet, rent a car. That said, the "time share" or vacation club or whatever they want to call it that they tell you is two hours, was 5 hours and they just didn't want to take no for an answer. The deal seemed good, but if a deal today is not good tomorrow, then frankly, I am not buying it. They seem to be confused by why a family might travel to Vegas and that the only reason we agreed to the presentation was for the $200 of free gambling vouchers. Families should check out Sky Zone- get a pass for $30 and go every day for your 2 hours. It's a good workout and lots of fun. Circus Circus also has the midway rides that were $30 for under 48 inches and $60 for above. Our kids are both under 48 inches, so they rode for several hours for $30 each. They offer a fast pass for $50, but the lineups were so insignificant that it wouldn't have been worth it. There are also hourly circus acts at Circus Circus, and parking is free. Other free parking is at Tropicana (soon to close) and Fashion Show mall.
