Running away from the hustle and bustle of the cities, we ended up in Bundi and we were lucky enough to spend 4 nights in this lovely haveli. The staff was kind and helpful, they really did their best to make us feel at our ease. Every morning we were greeted from the smiling staff of the restaurant. Everything was clean and well maintained. We have really enjoyed our stay!

Dev Niwas was a welcome surprise. A maze-like reinvention of an ancient haveli, it has a unique character and beauty. The restaurant is the highlight, with an awesome view of Bundi’s hillside palace. We ate at least one meal there every day, and the table service was very good. The rooms are comfortable and clean, but be prepared to contend with the cacophony of the city around you. I would return. I doubt you could do better for the price.

This Havelli was a real gem. We had a lovely big room with plenty of space and a comfortable bed. The evening meal and breakfast were very good. We had a selection of vegetarian curries, which were very tasty. There is also a nice swimming pool there now, although we did not use it. Would definitely recommend it if staying in Bundi

We visited Bundi in 2007 but always wanted to return given our first visit was brief. It doesn't seem to have changed that much - except for the traffic. Dev Niwas is a sister property to Jagat Niwas in Udaipur, and similar in style although on a smaller scale and with a more modest style, in keeping with the destination. We had a suite, which was generous and well furnished, with a large firm double bed with good linen. It had a spacious ensuite wetroom (shower in the corner that didn't wet everything else) and good storage for luggage. The rooms are on 2 levels, arranged around a courtyard, with lovely sitting areas at ground level. Suites are on the upper level - by steep stairs. Given its old city location, larger vehicles cannot easily get close to the haveli - our driver had to park at the nearby palace car park and DN sent its own auto-rickshaw for the quick transfer to the haveli - it fitted 2 adults and a lot of luggage. We were an easy walk to the palace, market and other attractions - although the narrow streets are blighted by motorcycles - as with other Indian cities. The open air (but covered) rooftop restaurant has a lovely view of the palace - the main reason for our choosing this accommodation. The cooking was good, but breakfast wasn't included with our accommodation package and overall we thought the food bill was a bit on the pricey side when we checked out. The staff were friendly and helpful; the property is well managed. There is good wifi. Bundi is well connected to Jaipur by a good road - about 3.5 hours in good traffic. It's between Jaipur and Udaipur but doesn't seem as popular as other Rajasthan places. It's probably not a place for those with mobility issues: the palace - its major attraction - is a steep walk to enter and there are many steep stairs to navigate inside. Similarly, DN would be difficult for those with mobility issues. Overall DN is a good option if Bundi is on your itinerary.

This is a great place right in the heart of Bundi. Cars can't make it right to the hotel because of the narrow streets, so the hotel meets you with a tuk-tuk for the last few hundred metres. The hotel is built around a courtyard and the rooms are spacious and well decorated. The communal areas are attractive and filled with historical paintings and artefacts. The restaurant has a fine view over the town and up to the fort which is floodlit in the evening. You can watch the monkeys playing on the rooftops. The food is quite basic but good. The manager and staff are very friendly and welcoming. Our trip coincided with the Bundi Utsav - a real bonus. We were lucky to see the parade from the fort through the town and it was a highlight of our trip.
