I would have rated it in minus if possible... We used one of their towels to scrub of sand and it was dirty at places and they charged us for it.. They have a hotel by the beach side and they expect their towels not to get dirty is ridiculous...and it was mere sand which was already falling off quite a deal on dusting Also they were charging us to pay for another towel which already had a faint black mark on it from before.... Anybody reading this, please don't book a room here and if you do, please be careful...inspect every item before you enter the room anything having any mark on it, please return and replace it before entering only...otherwise these people might cheat you and you might not have a good experience. P.S their rooms are not that great, incase you are wondering...the bathrooms don't close and lack an exhaust fan and it is broken at places...we were tricked by online pictures :(

Budget hotel near Calangute beach

We have stayed here for one week during Christmas time. Hotel is about half a kilometer away from Calangute beach. Don't confuse it with Calangute Residency, which is right on the Calangute beach. Hotel is little old but renovated rooms / bathrooms are fine. AC was little noisy but still had comfortable sleep. If you are driving, parking is very limited in front of the hotel (on the road), although there are two big paid parking areas right next to the hotel. It's a value for money budget hotel. They provide free breakfast for registered guests, extra guests are chargeable. Employees are courteous. Ground floor is occupied by some police officers. This is a Government run property, so probably these rooms are permanently given to Police Department and because of this I would consider this hotel very safe.

Rooms are average with lot of noise from adjoining rooms. But room-cleaning is quite regular, given that it is a govt. hotel. Pros - very near Calangute beach. The beach itself gets overcrowded during peak season. So if you want a quiet relaxed holiday, better avoid this area. Cons - Parking is on the adjoining lane which is narrow. The restaurant business is outsourced. food is ok, but the service is below average. Esp, the person manning the counter is quite rude, does not know how to swipe card properly and blames the customer. But location of the hotel is too good, with lots of eatery around.

Location is good very close to calangute beach. Rooms are not maintained as expe cted. Some small cockroaches also roaming in room. Price wise hotel is ok. Staff is ok.Wifi is not available in room. Wash room has shower that with hot n cold water. Averate hotel

The hotel is at a distance of 400 metres from the happening calangute beach.Considering the location this is a good budget hotel.We booked a double bedded ac room through the gtdc website.The room had window AC(without remote)and two single beds joined together.The room and the bathroom was quite spacious and clean. But the flush was not working properly in the toilet. The hotel has three floors with no lift service.The Non AC rooms have balcony and the AC rooms are without balcony.Everday morning they gave newspapers in the room.The hotel does not have a restaurant of its own.It is attached with a restaurant operated by another vendor and not gtdc.Breakfast is complementary,they give a coupon of Rs200 which gets deducted from the total bill of the breakfast.Rest amount has to be paid by you.The restaurant serves veg food,non veg is served after 9 am.There was one aged man who sits in the front desk who was really rude and unhelpful. We reached early around 8.30 am and the man made us wait till 11.30 saying no rooms are available.We couldn't argue as the official check-in time was 12 pm.When we asked if we can keep our luggage in their office till the time we check in, he told us to drag our bags on our own and keep in the office. No service person was there.During the time of checkout we asked if a car can be arranged to the airport,he told us to visit calangute residency hotel and book from there.He will not be able to book.Apart from this man all other staff were helpful and cordial.There was another man in the front desk who helped us with all our tour bookings and also booked a car to the airport.If you have a budget constraint but want to stay near the happening calangute beach this hotel is recommended.
