Everything to bar you at the Eagle

We went into the Blue Nile Hotel purely to have drinks in their well advertised hotel bar, The Eagle. However, once in the hotel, the bar was difficult to access, with the hotel receptionist having to bang on doors and unlock various locks. The bar was very dark with a minimum of dim lighting. The drinks were fine, and came accompanied by plate fulls of tit-bits. But, at least a proper drink in this area of Chennai!

Comfortable Stay

Had a one night stay in Chennai before flying off to the next destination. Wanted a location close to the airport and so found Pallavaram. Took the local bus from the railway station to Pallavaram and walked around and out of the few guest houses found Bue Nile more approachable, cleaner and it was the better one between the 2 that had rooms available. I will put it in a medium budget category. They have room service. The staff was friendly and helpful. They made sure to help us out with a tuk-tuk as most of the taxi drivers cancelled or refused to take us anywhere due to the heavy rain. The staff managed to get us a tuk-tuk at a decent price. The food was good but you also have options to eat out at some family restaurants in the area. The room was spacious and clean with clean sheets and pillows. Hope they are able to maintain it.

The hotel is on the main GST Road,Pallavaram; the most dirtiest, foul-smelling locality. The only plus point is that it is closer to the Airport. Geyser switch is just outside the room - one has to figure it out !

Forgettable Stay in Chennai

Stay here only if you have no other option. Do not go by the pictures and reviews on any of the websites- its far from reality. Enclosed pictures with this review may help. Booking through Cleartrip was easy. Location is on the main highway ( Chennai - Trichy) and bang near Pallavaram bus stand. Crowded, dusty , noisy , unclean are some pleasant words one can think of. By mistake booked a non AC and requested for an AC room which was promptly declined and was not at all surprised. Room was dusty and noisy from the buses and vehicles from the main highway. The washroom was equally bad. The bar / permit room attached to this hotel resembled a like a street side shanty. I went in at 10 PM and ordered a couple of drinks and the first thing they said was that I had to consume by 1030 PM as this was their closing time. Avoid at all costs.
