No AC, No Safety, No Hygiene – Poor Experience

I stayed at The Altruist AMR Hotel in Katra and was quite disappointed with the experience due to ongoing renovations and poor guest management. Renovation in Full Swing Without Safety Measures Major construction and spray painting work is being carried out right at the main entrance and lobby areas. Surprisingly, there are no protective enclosures, no ventilation, and no warning signs for guests. Spray paint fumes were openly circulating, and scaffolding and tools were left in common areas, creating a hazardous environment. Air Conditioning Not Functional, making the atmosphere even more uncomfortable, especially amidst the dust and fumes. Cleanliness and Maintenance Concerns Hygiene seemed to be a low priority. There were dirty, damaged floor sections, unsafe electrical sockets, and dust everywhere due to construction. The entire space looked more like a worksite than a hotel lobby. Overall Experience While renovation is understandable, basic guest safety and comfort cannot be ignored. These issues reflect a serious lack of planning and hospitality focus. Until renovations are fully complete, I would advise travelers to consider alternate accommodation in Katra for a more peaceful and safe stay.

The hotel staff was a true replica of the word hospitality. They treated us with utmost respect and took care of all our needs including back n forth shuttles from banganga and guiding us with the yatra process. The rooms were quite spacious and tidy but can use a little renovation.

We have stayed here both the times we went to Vaishno Devi in the last few years. The hotel has clean rooms. The location is very nice. There are a lot of eateries nearby. The washrooms were not upto the mark though.

Not worth the price paid for. Rooms in urgent need of maintenance. We stayed in room 408 after moving from different room on same floor due to damp wall issue surprisingly room 408 was kind of same with damaged wall on the entrance, muddy water in balcony dripping from roof and bathroom ceiling looked horrible with multiple boards used to fix it. Overall not worth for 5k per night (paid 8.5k through MMT and 1500 directly at reception for uprgrade in so called better room...lolz. Being a hotelier myself I will certainly not recommend this to anyone. I hope management will spend some money on maintenance of rooms. Staff was good and helpful.

Service is pathetic- Staff is untrained. Even on multiple request they did not give hot water. Average rooms but spacious . Poorly maintained furniture and fixtures - had to change room twice. Food and cutlery is below average .
