Beautiful charming hotel in the heart of the Chicago Gold Coast. Easy walking distance to bars and restaurants and yet able to take refuge away from the tourist crowds. Staff is very friendly and goes above and beyond for their guests.

Beautiful hotel celebrating the glitz era of the gold coast. The library off from the checkin is stunning, the touches of marble is gorgeous. Nice neighborhood, just around the corner from original playboy mansion. Plenty of restaurants in the area and a nice pleasant walk over to mag mile and oak street district. Staff very helpful and security ever present in lobby area. What i didnt like was having to carry my luggage up those marble stairs to the checkin, was only maybe 5 or so but still it wasxa chore. Only two elevators and at one point, one was down. The hallways are small as are the entry doors. I do not like the very low floor platform beds and night stand shelves are just as low. They have done a nice job of some updates but more needed on the rooms, very tiny toilets, reminded me of ones in daycare where they are potty training the toddlers-- very low to ground and so close to the door. Sink area is small with hardly any area for your toiletries. No luggage rack so i had no place to put my suitcase, i wound up putting it on the drawer area by television. Furniture very cheap looking, like particle board. But, its a clean hotel, safe quiet neighborhood...no noise at night you will sleep like a baby!! The bar room has live music at times and there is a nice restaurant. Its a bit over priced...my opinion... unfortunately, i wont stay here again, the low platform bed and bathroon and furniture are all no's for me. But those are my reasons...

My husband and I stayed at the Ambassador Chicago JDV by Hyatt this spring while in town for a wedding. The hotel, a Chicago classic, has recently received a chic upgrade: the lobby is beautiful and the rooms are sparkling clean, comfortable and well-appointed. We were particularly impressed with the level of service we received upon check-in. Akira was incredibly helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable and even upgraded our room to a 1-bedroom suite. She's a real asset to the hotel and made our stay feel welcoming from the moment we arrived.
