Travelling with 16 family members is no easy feat, but our stay at Chikmagalur Gateway was truly exceptional. This was largely due to the outstanding hospitality of the staff, especially the courteous Manager, Sudheesh, who ensured a smooth experience from booking and check-in to our final checkout. Several team members made our stay even more memorable: Kartik (Chef): His food was absolutely sumptuous and delighted everyone. Ismail (Front Desk): Always greeted us with a warm smile and was ever ready to help. Biswajit (Restaurant): A tremendous hard worker who served our large group with efficiency and a cheerful attitude. Ameer (Magician): The kids were thrilled by his magic tricks and are now asking me to perform them! Saroj and Arohi (Singers): Their performances made our evenings melodious and unforgettable — we even got to sing along! A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for making our family trip so enjoyable. We’ll cherish these memories for a long time. We wouldn’t have chosen Chikmagalur Gateway without Sudheesh. His courteous and helpful guidance during our initial inquiry played a key role in finalizing our decision to book. From the very beginning, he made us feel confident and welcomed — and that set the tone for a wonderful stay.

The hotel staff was welcoming and we had a very good stay. The hotel is very green and clean. Highly recommended for families.

I want to share an honest opinion with those considering a stay here. While the property is listed under Taj reservations, it does not meet Taj standards in terms of service, quality, or value. ❌ What Didn’t Work: Overpriced Rooms: A standard cottage priced at ₹17,000 is simply not justified. Personally, its real value feels closer to ₹7,000–₹8,000. Menu Pricing: The food menu is significantly overpriced. Prices should be reduced by 30–50% to reflect the actual value offered. Service Expectations: This is a heritage hotel, not a 4-star property. Pls adjust your expectations accordingly. If you intend to only enjoy old architecture, then it falls in your category Landscape & Maintenance: The exterior landscaping needs a complete overhaul. I think they need to hire a professional agency to maintain cleanliness and aesthetics. There were lots of weeds and other debris at a few of the cottages, which seemed not to have been cleaned for a long time. Approach Road: The road leading to the property can be difficult to navigate during the monsoon. Still puzzled how this was missed by the property management. The hotel appears to be 30–40 years old and has been renovated, but it still lacks the finesse expected from a Taj-branded experience. Value for Money: There are smaller hotels nearby offering better service at nearly half the price. My take is that if you plan to stay here, consider using Taj vouchers, which most of us get when spending our credit cards, instead of paying ₹15,000–₹20,000 in cash for a cottage room. ✅ What I Appreciated: Complimentary Car Wash: A thoughtful touch, especially helpful during rainy weather. Evening Entertainment: The magic show and live music were enjoyable and added charm to the evening. Peacock Restaurant Service: Excellent service here. They even waived charges for a dish we had concerns about — much appreciated! Finally, Tks Sudeesh!. I hope this feedback goes directly to the Management. I will certainly plan to revisit next year. off course with the Taj Voucher

The property is a bit out of the town. This comes first while coming from Kadur. It is at a good location. The property is very clean and food is good. This is all expected for a Taj property. Best part of this resort is the warmth of the staff. The restaurant staff (all of them) are very cordial inspite of tremendous rush hours in the morning. Mr. Parmeshwara is always with a smile. The lady at the reception (sorry for not knowing her name) makes you feel at home. Every single person comes across as very warm and cordial. I will definitely recommend this property if you are visiting Chikmagalūr.
