What is Visa Denial Cover?

Visa Denial Cover is a Cleartrip program that ensures a full refund minus the convenience fee on your flight ticket if your tourist visa application is officially rejected by the embassy/consulate. This means you can book without worrying about losing money in case your visa isn’t approved.

Who is eligible for this cover?

You are eligible if all of the below conditions are true/fulfilled:

  • You booked your international flight via Cleartrip departing from India. And you are holding a valid Indian Passport.
  • You applied for a tourist visa and it was rejected by the embassy/consulate.
  • Your flight ticket is partially or fully refundable and eligible under this program.

You submit all required documents supporting your visa rejection within the required timeframe.

What visa types are covered?

This cover is only applicable for tourist visas. Other types of visas (business, student, work, dependent, or transit visas) are not covered.

What if my visa application is delayed instead of rejected?

Delays in visa processing are not covered. The refund is applicable only if your visa is officially rejected by the embassy/consulate.

What if my booking has multiple passengers, and only one person’s visa is rejected?

If multiple passengers are booked together and only one person’s visa is denied, the refund will apply only for that passenger, provided the airline allows partial cancellations. Please refer to the airline terms and conditions on partial cancellations.

Is the Visa Denial Cover refund processed automatically?

No, you must cancel the ticket at least 24 hours before departure via the Cleartrip app or website to claim the refund.

What is the Refund Claim procedure for flights?

Step 1: The customer must click on the My Trips section on Cleartrip App / Website and raise a request for cancellation by selecting ‘Due to visa rejection’ as the reason. Cancellation must be done 24 hours before the departure time.

Step 2: On cancellation, a partial refund (excluding Cleartrip & airline cancellation charges) will be processed within 24 hours.

Step 3: You will receive an email to upload the required documents on a link to claim the Visa Denial Cover benefit. You can file for a claim by uploading the required documents within 10 days after cancelling the flight.

Step 4: On receiving the documents, Cleartrip will validate and process the remaining refund equivalent to cancellation charges for eligible and approved cases. Once validated, the refund will be processed within 5-7 working days to the original payment mode. The Cleartrip convenience fee is non-refundable.

What documents do I need to submit to claim a refund?

To file a claim, you need to upload the following documents on the Cleartrip claims portal:

  • Visa Rejection Letter from the embassy/consulate stating the reason for rejection. Note: For Japan/Turkey/China, in case of absence of a Visa Rejection Letter from the embassy, one can arrange for the consulate’s mail confirming the visa rejection which will be considered as a valid document in such a case.
  • Passport Copy – Visa-stamped page where the visa rejection is mentioned (For countries where rejection is stamped directly on the passport).
  • Ticket Copy – The ticket copy as received from Cleartrip at the time of cancellation, in a PDF file.
  • Cancellation Breakdown – the cancellation breakdown as received from Cleartrip at the time of cancellation, in a PDF file or email screenshot

If document re-validation is required, the customer must resubmit the document within the next 10 days.

 

Do I need to upload my cancellation breakdown?

Yes, you need to download the cancellation refund breakdown sent to you at the time of cancellation, in a clear PDF file format. This cancellation breakdown covers your airline cancellation charges, processed refund and the partially refunded amount sent to you. You need to ensure that Cleartrip’s email address, your personal email address, and the email body are clearly visible in a SINGLE pdf file/screenshot.

Is it available on non-India originating flights?

No, our Visa Denial Cover is only available on flights departing from India. A roundtrip flight is only eligible if the origin destination is from India. So your roundtrip from India to another country is covered, but not vice versa. 

Do I get the full refund immediately after cancellation?

You will get the partial refund after deducting airline cancellation charges and platform fees.  will then receive an email confirmation with a link. Upon uploading your rejection proofs from the embassy, your ticket copy, and your KYC document, your claim will be taken up for further processing.

What if I don’t get a Visa Rejection Letter from the embassy

In case you don’t get a detailed visa rejection letter from the embassy (such as China or Japan), you can submit the email screenshot of the visa rejection email. You need to ensure that the sender’s email address, your personal email address, and the email body are clearly visible in a SINGLE pdf file/screenshot.
Please be advised that unclear details may lead to rejection of claim by the insurer.

What happens if I cancel my ticket directly with the airline

You will not be able to claim the Visa Denial Cover from airline websites/apps.. To claim the refund, you need to cancel your booking on Cleartrip. 

 

Terms & Conditions

Eligibility

This program applies only to international flight tickets booked via Cleartrip where the passenger’s tourist visa is officially rejected by the Embassy .

 

Inclusions

Refund claim can be approved if the rejection is due to

  • Failure to justify the purpose and conditions of the intended stay, including incomplete or unclear travel plans.
  • Insufficient proof of sufficient funds for the stay, return travel, or onward journey.
  • Alert issued in the Schengen Information System (SIS) regarding public health threats or security risks.
  • Doubts raised by the embassy regarding the authenticity or accuracy of supporting documents.
  • Reasonable suspicion that the applicant does not intend to leave the destination country before the visa expiry.
  • Presence of a medical condition that may prevent travel or pose a risk to public health.
  • Applying for a visa too close to the travel date without a valid justification.
  • Poor interview performance, such as inconsistent responses, nervousness, or lack of preparation.
Exclusions

Refunds claim will not be provided if the visa rejection is due to

  • Submission of incomplete, insufficient, false, or forged documents.
  • Expired, invalid, or damaged passports, or passports without enough blank pages.
  • Previous visa rejections for similar reasons.
  • Criminal records, pending litigations, or past immigration violations.
  • Failure to attend a scheduled visa interview.
  • Not providing valid travel medical insurance where required.
  • Voluntary withdrawal of the visa application by the applicant.
  • Visa processing delays from the embassy or consulate.
  • Failure of police verification specifically for a US visa.
  • Past immigration violation results in visa denial / rejection
Non-Refundable Components

This program does not cover non-refundable flight tickets. For flights that are partially or fully refundable, Visa Denial Cover applies only to the refundable portion of the ticket. Any services, fare components, or charges that are classified as non-refundable by the airline such as seat, meal or baggage are not covered under this program. Refund eligibility will strictly follow the airline’s fare rules.

General Terms and Conditions

Cleartrip reserves the right to change or withdraw the Visa Denial Cover at any time at the sole discretion of the Management.

Cleartrip reserves the right at any time, without prior notice and liability and without assigning any reason whatsoever, to add/alter/modify/change or vary all of these terms and conditions or to replace, wholly or in part, and to withdraw this Visa Denial Cover at any time in its sole discretion.

  • Cleartrip is the sole authority for the interpretation of these terms.
  • In the event of any fraud, misuse, or abuse of the terms of this program, Cleartrip reserves the right to deny or cancel the Visa Denial Cover.
  • Cleartrip shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising due to a force majeure event.
  • In no event does the entire liability of Cleartrip under this Visa Denial Cover exceed the airline fare paid by the customer towards the booking.
  • Cleartrip shall not be liable for any indirect, punitive, special, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with the Visa Denial Cover . You hereby agree to indemnify and keep Cleartrip harmless against all damages, liabilities, costs, expenses, claims, suits, and proceedings (including reasonable attorney’s fees) that may be suffered by Cleartrip as a consequence of (i) violation of terms of this T&C by You; (ii) violation of applicable laws.
  • By opting for this Visa Denial Cover, every customer expressly agrees that neither Cleartrip nor any of its affiliates will be liable or responsible for any loss or damage whatsoever that a customer may suffer, directly or indirectly, in connection with such Visa Denial Cover that arises from such customer’s act of omission or commission.
  • Any person availing this Visa Denial Cover shall be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions.

 

  • Cleartrip is only an intermediary. Cleartrip disclaims all liability and responsibility, whatsoever, for the services rendered by the end service provider.
  • These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Bangalore will have exclusive jurisdiction over any matters/disputes arising out of or concerning this Visa Denial Cover.
  • These terms and conditions are in addition to the Terms of Use and Privacy Notice, to which you agree by using Cleartrip, and also in addition to the conditions applicable to the booking of the Airline. To the extent these conditions are inconsistent with these terms and conditions, these terms and conditions shall prevail concerning this Visa Denial Cover only.
  • The Visa Denial Cover is not transferable and non-exchangeable. The Visa Denial Cover cannot be redeemed for cash.
  • This document is an electronic record in terms of the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Rules thereunder as applicable, and the amended provisions about electronic records in various statutes as amended by the Information Technology Act, 2000.

  • You acknowledge and confirm that you are aware of the nature of telecommunications/internet services and that an email transmission may not be received properly and may be read or be known to any unauthorized persons. You agree to assume and bear all the risks involved in respect of such errors and misunderstandings and Cleartrip shall not be responsible in any manner.
  • Cleartrip shall not be responsible for any inaccuracy of information submitted by the user.
  • Benefits under this program are for personal use and shall not be commercially exploited.
  • This Visa Denial Cover is solely meant for end-customers who make the bookings through the Cleartrip Platforms. This Visa Denial is not meant for resellers or travel agents booking for their customers.
