detail in each and every object in that place!!
Thereafter, the ceremony was supposed to take place in one of the Convention halls.....which is actually now a restaurant.......the whole place was done with glass work......a beautiful glass peacock done on the wall.... u have to visit the place to experience......it felt like a lavish movie set.....a glass Mahal !!
In Feb 2013, I again visited that place for my wife's birthday, and we stayed there.....the service.....the rooms......the food.....everything was.......superb!!
Though, definitely the rooms are as expensive as any 5 star hotel......it is a definite stop.....and worth spending a night or two.......to enjoy the property.

The Shiv Vilas is a great location from Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal, Jal Mahal and Galta Monkey Temple. It is however, around 45 minutes from the Pink City (Main Jaipur

area) and around 1 hour from the airport. The hotel building itself was beautiful. Palatial with gorgeous monuments and decor. The rooms were decent sized and presented well.
The reason I have put "average" as my rating is due to the following:
Breakfast is not of 5 star quality - They do not refresh the food on the trays after around 930, leaving it cold and soggy. The car services are per hour blocks and expensive in comparison to local transport which does not service the Kukas area where the hotel is. The other reason is their cleaning services were well below average to what you would expect of a 5 star property.
Our room was not cleaned on several occasions even when we had been out of the hotel all day.
The plumbing leaked throughout our whole bathroom & toilet.
Wifi wouldn't work in the room unless I was sitting outside the door.
On a positive note, the dinner room service menu was of good quality and the food was delicious.

were keen for a few days to relax at a luxury hotel away from the bustle that is beautiful India. The hotel we arrived to was a BIG disappointment given that Shiv Vilas claims to be a high end hotel. To be fair, our arrival was greeted by great staff who made us feel very welcome but after the initial delight in the foyer the rest of our stay was to say the least ordinary with the hotel not at all at the upper end of the hotel market.
The rooms were a good size but not a luxury level, windows needed a good clean, a few of the cushions on the bed had stains on it and one of the rooms we stayed in needed repairs to the shower. Service was inconsistent with our first night receiving a bed turn down service service but for the next 2 nights none. Laundry was not collected after a number of requests, Wifi was not available during our whole stay with no reason given for it's absence. The power to the hotel shut off regularly for a few minutes at a time during our stay (don't luxury hotels have a generator?).
The hotel was also advertised to have a number of restaurants. whilst we were there only one was open - so be aware during shoulder seasons you may have little choice for dining. We wish we would have been notified of this as the trip into Jaipur is approx 45minutes away and therefore if you don't want to travel out at night your meal experiences are severely limited. The restaurant staff tried but there really needs some more training and uniforms really did need to be clean. Dinner was ok but wine was sent back as it was off and we assume it had not been cellared properly.
The photos of the pool area are what made Shiv Vilas quite special - what we got was - a swimming pool that was green on the sides and pool water that was not clear. The pool really needs to be drained and resurfaced. The pool area had pigeon droppings and feathers on the paving and in the fountains. During the time we were there no cleaning occurred.
The Day Spa was not at all up to the a luxury category. The jacuzzi had a layer on dirt in it and the floors needed repair. The lady at the Spa was very helpful but the Spa services were not up to scratch and most of us did not have an enjoyable experience.
We understand that each country has differences in how they run hotels, but if you are going to claim to be a luxury hotel you need to perform like one. (Particularly when Shiv Vilas charges like a high end hotel). We we very disappointed and will not return next year to this hotel.

Very disappointing property outside of Jaipur. Seems to be totally set up for the corporate market. I would not recommend staying there at all. The whole property was not clean,

the rooms were small dark, not at all luxurious, and the small beds very hard and uncomfortable.
The pool area had no shade, the chairs and lounges unclean and not all working and the pool itself was green.
Only one place to eat.
The hotel itself was hot because of the constant power blackouts and while the staff were pleasant they were poorly trained. There was no phone, no internet and the spa was very average.
i'm not sure why they call themselves a luxury property, and they certainly do not offer what they advertise. Go anywhere else
