Udaipur is known primarily for its lakes. Two of them are the most famous. Pichola, the larger of the two is surrounded by narrow lanes and small hotels or nearly
unaffordable expensive hotels. Fateh Sagar, the more serene of the two lakes (personal opinion), is the one we wanted to stay near. My mother flatly refused to stay in any room that did not have a lake facing view. Most places that did have lake views were either sold out, or ridiculously expensive. Most other places that had a lake view also had a road between the hotel and the lake.
Lake View Villa was the only place that claimed to have a room with a view of the lake without a road in between and at an affordable price. Despite it sounding too good to be true, we booked a room there, and were in for a pleasant surprise.
The place exceeded expectations in every regard! We were breathless. Thats how good the view is from the room. We are a family of 5, so my parents took the suite on the first floor with me and my brother sharing a king bed on the second floor. On our floor, we had a narrow balcony that was to be shared between 2 rooms. And while our rooms were perfect and we had no complains whatsoever, the suite was unimaginably beautiful, and easily the better of the two we had booked. It had a stunning view of the lake, and since it was lower it almost felt like the room continued onto the lake. There is a massive glass pane that offers an unadulterated view of the lake with the balcony large enough to be an entirely separate room itself. There were tree wood finished sofas laid outside, and breakfast with the family was such a thoroughly enjoyable affair, we often ended up stretching a breakfast to over an hour!
You can laze around the property, or sit out on the terrace on a chilly night or even have piping hot tea in the small lawn seating area outside the main building. The owners Mr. and Mrs. Singh are wonderful people to talk or have long conversations with. They were unabashedly forthcoming and friendly and were the biggest contribution towards making this stay memorable. We felt more like guests at a familiar relative's home rather than tourists in a hotel. This is as good as any bed and breakfast can get.
Home stays are undoubtedly the best way to truly experience a place, and yet the convenience and professional services of a hotel are unmatched. The culmination of both is a treasured rarity in itself, and Lake View Villa did what very few can ever do.
Visit this place if you enjoy a more personal touch. Visit it for the exquisite suite and the unmatched view. Visit it for all the reasons that truly make a stay worth it. I'm not big on vouching for hotels - since there is always the possibility that you had an unusually good time out of sheer luck. But if I were to vouch for one place in all my stays in Rajasthan - this would be it.

I was headed to Udaipur for a bikers rally, but didn't want to stay at the same hotel as everyone else. My 'alone' time is important, and I was looking for a conveniently located alternate option. Lake View Villa was recommended to me by a close friend. I was hesitant at first, but as it turned out, an EXCELLENT choice. A hospitable, clean, very homely b'n'b option. Excellently priced, with rooms overlooking the lake. Peaceful, quiet and serene. Look forward to going back.

Lake View Villa was recommended to me by My father as the stay option while riding to Udaipur with my friends.
Mr & Mrs Singh, owners of villa, have created an amazing mix of professional service and homely feeling that makes one is completely at ease and truly enjoy the surroundings the Villa is beautifully situated around. The villa's is located at the edge of the awesome Fateh Sagar lake and the view from the balconies is mind blowing.
They have excellent food giving the perfect homely touch. The rooms are very comfortable with all the apt requirements one needs while travelling from correctly numbered plug points to the efficient electricals. The washrooms which are always a concern for some are well kept, clean, well maintained. The beds are very comfortable and service is also quick & efficient.
Mr.Singh is an amazing host who gave us the right places to go visit was courteous enough to provide tips for local sight seeing.
Great value for money and a wonderful experience. Highly recommended for people looking for a comfortable stay without hassles. Will definitely be my first thought whenever thinking of Udaipur.

Excellent homestay. It has very nice view of the Fatehsagar lake. Mr. SIngh, the owner is a very lively man. The suite room has a 'To die for' balcony, facing the lake. If you're looking for a homestay with a view and away from the hustle bustle of the market area, this is the place.
