was very spacious with a balcony overviewing the city. Rooms were in apartment like small building. The standard rooms are in the actual hotel building I believe. Hotel is not the most modern but that didnt bother me at all. All is surrounded by gardens. Breakfast buffet was really good, again overviewing the city center. Didnt try the pool since it was quite cold (december) but it looked good. This is a very good option if you dont want to be in on of the downtown hotels which can be noisy and dark.

you off downtown every hour. The room we stayed in was standard-clean and basic. The patio, pool and restaurant were great. We loved relaxing in the pool and having a drink on the patio. The breakfast buffet was excellent-lots of choices-something for everyone. The hotel was full of groups and families. A good choice for families or groups who can rent the small casas overlooking the city.

it is definitely not in that category. The hotel noted in it's advertising of having gone through a renovation, if that is the case more work needs to be completed. I stayed at this hotel over 20 years ago, in a jr. suite and while the views are nice the lack of upkeep and tattered furniture and carpeting in my suite was very disappointing. Their were two of us but only one hand towel was provided each day, service was mediocre for the most part.
The hotel does provide a free shuttle into town early in the morning and then again in the evenings, the wifi was spotty but the service by the wait staff in the breakfast buffet was excellent.
If you are looking for a standard type hotel 3 - 3 1/2 stars then consider this hotel, if you are looking for any type of luxurious rooms then skip the Victoria.

in the rooms and throughout the main area of the lobby is disgusting. When we checked in we thought we would have dinner in the hotel bar/restaurant as there is a very nice view from the outdoor seating; however, when the food arrived I didn't even want to touch it. I have been to Oaxaca more times than I can count and know what it is suppose to look like and smell like...and that was wrong. Honestly, I just don't think the kitchen gets enough people through the doors to have fresh ingredients - everything was old and stale.
When we got to our room I was speechless. Those blue and white rooms that folks have posted pictures of...that was what we got. It was gross. I didn't want to touch anything - the shower, the towels, the pillows - nasty. Again, the carpet was beyond dirty and I literally didn't take my shoes off in the room. The following night we came back from dinner and thought we would just do drinks in the bar before calling it a night. There was some boxing match and the waiters would not let us sit anywhere near the big screen to watch because they said it had been reserved - it was weird and rude and made no sense....BECAUSE NOBODY SHOWED UP! We were literally one of three table seated in the bar throughout the fight!
Final word: This place is trying to exist on a reputation that was made a decade ago. The property is run down and dirty. We changed to the Camino Real after that second night and could not have been happier - it is gorgeous!

Stayed here for 5 nights early January.
Pro's: Great location, free shuttle to town centre and back on the hour, great included breakfast.
Suites have awesome city views particularly at night!

Con's: ALL staff expect a tip they hover over you with peering eyes when signing checks to see how much you are giving - one occasion had 3 of them I mean come on (I will give you a tip right here, don't hang around and you might actually get more)
Rooms are very dated - had to change room as a leaky toilet on the floor. Next room had a broken shower head ARGH! Asked them to fix never got done so I just put up with it.
Overall would stay again due to location and shuttle etc, but they have a few things to work on.
