as in Germany. The hotel and our room was cleaner than what i expected. When we stayed in a 4 Star Hotel in Stockholm and payed way more for our room it was way worse than this hotel. The food wasnt my taste but i am not a big fan of Indian food in general. The breakfast buffet had rotating food and you could also get specialties like scrumbled egg on request. Our room was on the backside of the hotel facing the garden and mountains and it was rather quite. I have been to the Spa several times for different massages and enjoyed it. Also the laundry service was fast and good and not too expensive for my taste. I cant say the service was bad and whenever we called housekeeping or reception they tried to help asap, only once i had to ask several times when i wanted them to open my locked window. There was a fridge in our room which was quite loud at night so we turned it off while sleeping. The air condition in our room worked and the bathroom was surprisingly clean. Inside the hotel i prefered to use the toilet in our room because the toilets in the spa and lobby need some serious cleaning and a makeover. Looking at the other hotels in this city we can be happy we picked the Madhuban for our stay. I have met people from other hotels in town telling horrible stories so i was just happy about ours and would probably choose it again for further stays. There is also another Madhuban hotel up in the hills in Mussoorie and a third one is under construction not far from the Best Western Madhuban. People coming from Europe shouldnt come to India with the funny idea that the standard is all the same.

Reasonable, Fairly Clean Rooms

Stayed at Hotel Madhuban this past summer along with a friend during our four night trip to Dehradun. Checking in was anything but pleasant as we arrived on an

early morning train from Delhi and were hoping they would at least let us leave our luggage until check-in time later on in the day. The reception staff informed me that they could not find my reservation in the system-I told them I had booked directly at the hotel website and even had the email confirmation to prove it. Eventually they relented and gave us the room key and we were told to meet with the manager later in the morning. After a couple more trips to the reception desk and manager's office things were sorted out.
Aside from this the hotel is decent. Definitely nothing four star but cannot complain at the reasonable rate of $100/night (I know some wrote that is expensive-but compared to the outrageous rates in Bombay and Delhi this was a dream). Our room faced the valleys in the back and we could see Mussorrie in a distance (gorgeous views in the evening and early morning from our room). The bed did show a little wear and tear but otherwise no complaints. Btw this is the only three-star in the city. Location is convenient as it is located on one of the major streets and yet in a fairly quiet location. Cafe Coffee Day (Indian version of Starbucks) is a 30-second walk right across from the hotel lobby. Definitely a big plus.

Not a 4 star quality hotel! Disappointing

Not a 4 star quality hotel! Disappointing accomodation: rooms and facilities are very dated. No safe in the room. We booked a club room which could have been rather classified

as standard room. No internet facilities. Breakfeast very basic. Staff not helpful (when you have a problem, they'd rather look after other customers than solving it).
Unfortunately when we arrived, a wedding was taking place in the garden all night, which was very noisy! Quiet pricey for what it is! Asham that Dehra Dun is now capital of Uttranchal, but has no decent hotel!
