Very warm welcome, but a bit shabby

Great location for visiting the wonderful Golden temple, but after the great write-up in Lonely planet (really shouldnt fall for that..) I was expecting something a bit more spic and ... more span.

The room we've got was clean and as quiet as I'd expect to get round here - the air con was a bit noisy, but effective, and there was a foam mattress which could have done with being a bit comfier.

The hotel could do with a paint job as the comunal areas look quite tired and marked.

However, the reception we got was fabulous - it's owned by a very effusive and friendly sikh family who want to make sure you enjoy and appreciate their city. less
