We stayed here in 2007 for a week and loved it. There was a great variety on the menu and a lovely quiet location. The room was basic, but clean. There were blackouts a few times, but I think that was normal for this area and they didn't last long. You can walk to some of the 5 star resorts from here and dine if you prefer, however on the night we dined at the 5 star resort close by my partner got a very upset stomach, which hadn't happened the whole time we dined at the Horizon Beach Resort. Taxis are cheap there and the hotel managed to organise a taxi for a whole day to take us to various places including the temple at Tambdi Surla and the elephant sancuary there for around £20. I got the most amazing shirodara massage there and we had no reason to make any complaints. One of my favourite holidays in fact!

The hotel looks quite nice with a lush garden and mediterranean architecture and is organized around a little pool. It is almost isolated in a quiet surrounding which we liked, but one should be aware of. However there are numerous little problems that sum up and leave in general a negative impression. First the state of room varies, and while some are just neglected and in need of a renovation others are fair value but also come with problems: Too many light switches without any logic, smelly closets without hangers, balcony doors with a gap underneath so that ants invade the room. Generally I must admit though that for India they were clean enough, with the exception of the towels which were just old and stained. Also there was good water pressure and we had a huge fridge in the room. The most annoying thing was just the indifferent service of the staff. While they were friendly it was mostly the guests who greeted first, during meals we were not once asked if we liked it or not or being adressed by our name by the reception. Also we always had to remind them several times when asking for something. Once we asked for matches because my friend wanted to smoke and they said they do not have these, however just 10 minutes ago they had lit a candel on the table with a lighter. So we ventured back to the room... They did not have the most basic idea of a little bit of service and attention. While on their website they said that the management lives on site I wonder what they do because there were so many signs of neglect on the building and the site like piles of excrements of birds in less exposed parts of roofs and balconies or a dirty kid's pool, a waterfall out of service, let alone the hut they used for the massages which looked like a shelter for animals rather. While the breakfast was dull and uninspired I like to compliment the team in the kitchen on the other side for the mostly nice dinners. The place is in a relatively unspoilt part of South Goa and we liked the beach and to wander around in the area, but compared to other places in Asia we were disappointed about our stay.

I believe this hotel was lovely 5 years ago but not now. There is a dispute with the owners and the courts have closed the kitchens and restaurant. The food
is cold as they are cooking on a stove in one of the apartments. The drinks are warm and you cannot get a drink after 11 pm. You have to beg to get your rooms cleaned and the staff are terrible. Pool furniture is broken and the rooms are a disgrace. The only thing you get for breakfast is 2 eggs which are also cold and over brewed coffee and tea
The area is lovely and the local people are very nice. If it had not of been for the local shack we would have starved.
