We've checked in at DoDo hotel in Riga, after an exhausting drive from Moscow. Hotel is not very easy to find if it's your first time in Riga, but after a while you're getting used to it.
There is a payable parking lot close to the hotel, but you can leave the car for free near the hotel at your own risk. Location of the hotel is convenient, close to the tram stop which means quick and easy transportation to center of the city.
Staff is friendly, rooms are small but cozy considering the price. Everything is definitely on a cheap side, but you don't feel yourself like your in backpackers hostel. Bathroom is tiny as well, but very clean.
WiFi is free and has a decent speed, plus they let you call home for free for 5 minutes via phone at the lobby.
Breakfast buffet was very good instead, simple but all organic local products, like super fresh dairy products, homemade cottage cheese, cereals and muesli. Very tasty!
For a budget stay in Riga just in the middle between posh and expensive 5 stars and super cheap hostels - this hotel is a nice alternative.

In a town with many very expensive hotels as well as many very low budget ones, the Dodo offers a good alternative. This is a cheap place to stay, so don't expect the Ritz, but it has everything we needed for the night we stayed in Riga - clean rooms, good bed, small but adequate bathroom, breakfast, taxi service right outside the doors etc.
What makes me really like the hotel though, is the incredibly friendly and helpful staff! Nothing was too much trouble and they did their best to accommodate all our wishes! Additionally, I was happy to see that there was free wifi in the rooms (even a back-up wifi network available should one go down). There is a free phone downstairs with which you can book tours, restaurants etc and even call home for free for 5 minutes!
Overall, I believe the Dodo is a perfectly good place to stay for a few nights if you are happy to stay in a decent budget hotel!

Checked in o.k. quite late on a Friday night so wanted to get out and experience the night-life promptly, was held up with lots of form filling asking for every detail, including passport numbers. Had twin room which had just enough clearance at the bottom of the bed to walk past (if you turned sideways). Bathroom was small, just enough room to turn in. When one of our parties shower fell from the wall (no fault of his own) due to a loose wall bracket and smashed the shower screen the receptionist tried to make us pay 80LATS damage and 40LATS for a new room. Got manager involved who reduced cost to 30LATS, we reluctantly paid as we didnt want to spend the whole night arguing. I'd say go there for a weekend, certainly don't stay here if you don't like stag/hen parties with rowdy noisey people. Didn't use the restaurant. Hotel is a good 1 hour walk into town (St Peter's Church area) but even the locals don't recommend going out near the hotel at night (area a bit like down-town Baghdad). Shop across the road did a roaring trade, would go there often for snacks and drinks.
