Topic: Suggestions & feedback / Citibank Netbanking

Does/will the new net banking option for Citibank work with foreign held Citibank accounts or only Indian branch accounts?

Topic: Suggestions & feedback / ICICI verified by Visa

You’re welcome.

In my case, since I was able to secure a credit card through ICICI, I use it without the Verified by Visa option— there is a “skip or don’t sign up for Verified by Visa” button for regular credit card users whom HAVEN’T already signed up.

For regular credit card users who use ICICI credit cards AND have signed up for Verified by Visa AND now have a symbol in their password, the only other option is netbanking.

Topic: Suggestions & feedback / ICICI verified by Visa

It’s great to hear about the new facility to pay using ICICI debit cards.

One word of warning: ICICI’s verified by Visa does not work with internet banking passwords which have symbols in them. Yes, they are being stupid, especially since their security brochures and mailings constantly say that a password should have numbers, letters and symbols to be safe! This is an issue I have been fighting with ICICI for almost a year.

You should put some sort of warning on before your redirect the user and also to advise your support team, because using a symbol in the password will give the user a generic and useless error: “System exception error”. This error is useless to even ICICI internet banking support personnel.

I for one am not desperate enough to make my password less safe by removing symbols just to be able to use ICICI’s Verified by Visa system to make payments to Cleartrip. I was desperate over a year ago before being able to get a credit card (which is how I know about ICICI’s verified by visa problems). I guess I’m just currently lucky.

Topic: Suggestions & feedback / designate CT replies in forum

I just noticed that most of the other Cleartrip admins have “admin” associated with their names. So, I guess I just happened to only see the one without admin under their name. oh well!

I still think having a mini cleartrip logo next to the admin’s name would be nice and useful.

Topic: Suggestions & feedback / designate CT replies in forum

I would suggest that posts made by Cleartrip employees have some indication of who they are or that they are official Cleartrip replies. Hrush’s posts show “admin”, but I think that’s because he physicially administrates the forum.

For example, Roopali seems to be from Cleartrip, and should have some designation (such as “Cleartrip”, “admin”, or their position) or have a small icon next to their name (a star, the Cleartrip checkmark logo, etc), or their signin name should appear in color/bold.

All airlines
Search was done multiple times between around 1:45pm and 2:30 PM today 7 Jul 2007.

The problem turns out to be that the going rate at the time (from Indian themselves and the travel agent) was Rs.1770.

Topic: Complaints / Refreshing airline results

I have tried a half a dozen times to book IC-945 over half an hour.. However, each time, after choosing the flight and entering address details, the error is returned that my choosen flight/fare is no longer available. Each time, I cleared the cache and did a “new” search which listed the same flight at the same rate, and resulted in the same error.

Customer service on the phone said to pick another flight, since the seat might have been booked and Cleartrip has not been updated. Shouldn’t the update be real time or nearly real time?!? And for sure there should have been an update sometime during the 30 minutes I struggled through this. I do not want another flight! :-/ The flight is listed on other sites at Rs50 rupees more. I don’t care about paying an extra Rs.50 if the Rs 1726 rate is not available. But Cleartrip is not showing me anything else!

Unfortunately, you have lost the chance to do this one booking.

Topic: Suggestions & feedback / RSS channel title

It would be better if in the RSS channel title, “cleartrip [forum name]” would appear first.

Instead of: <channel> <title>Recent Posts in ‘NEW FEATURE: All new Cleartrip Account’ | Cleartrip Forum</title>

It would be more useful to have: <channel> <title>Cleartrip Announcements</title> OR <title>Cleartrip Announcements Forum</title> (my vote is for the first)

And then keep the Item titles just as they are. It would look nicer and be more useful in readers.

Topic: Suggestions & feedback / Lock the topics in Announcement forum

I understand and very much appreciate that you want to hear from customers. However, there are enough other forums where customers can post. Matter of fact, they are quite nicely categorized. :-)

It may not seem like much now since the forum is new. In the long run the Announcement forum will become cluttered with non announcements and irrelevant replies which will clutter the wonderful RSS feature you provide (for example, the one request which has nothing to do with the announcement itself). Again, the benefit is that the announcement RSS feed can be used as an alternative, fast, official method of getting messages/updates out to users.

Currently, the Cleartrip “newsletters” are just advertising promos and those too few to be useful for site announcements. Emailing tens of thousand of users takes a large amount of resources. Emailing small updates, such as those posted in the Announcements to all users through email is not efficient, nor preferred by all. RSS readers are available on a variety of devices and even built into browsers and email systems. This has a much larger scope and efficiency than mass email anyway. It lets users keep in touch with what’s happening on the Cleartrip site without having to visit the site constantly just to see what’s new.

Cleartrip is already more personal than any other site. RSS could make it moreso. In addition to new site features, think of the possibilities of regularly alerting users: preannouncing site maintenance/downtime, announcing new promotions/specials, warnings to travelers (e.g. security increased at airports -> arrive earlier than usual OR abc Airline employees strike -> double check for cancellations, expect delays, arrive early), etc. From Cleartrip’s point of view, you would also be placing yourself more visibly on users’ computers, cellphones, pdas and more. Free advertising and visibility at nearly no cost.

An announcement section (only 1 out of 5) should just be that—announcements. Making it completely locked down increases the users’ trust in the announcements/replies posted, especially when read through RSS. It is something you should consider exploiting for the long-term benefits to Cleartrip and users alike. All this, without decreasing the customers’ ability to interact personally with Cleartrip in the numerous other forums, through email, and on the phone.
