Iran Air is the flag carrier airline of Iran and was established in its present form in 1962. It can trace its history back to 1944 when its predecessor "Iranian Airways" was created. This entity later merged with Persian Air Services to give rise to Iran Air.
The carrier has been a full member of IATA since 1964. Though it was created as a domestic airline, it has grown to serve many international destinations while providing a safe and comfortable travel experience to passengers. It currently flies to 35 international and 25 domestic destinations.
Iran Air is proud to offer flight services to Hajj pilgrims and has been doing so since its inception. Passengers may also make an Iran Air online booking to many cities in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
The fleet of the carrier consists of Boeing, Airbus and Fokker aircraft, and these are used according to the length of the flight. The fleet is regularly maintained and kept in a safe and comfortable condition.
The airline does not yet offer online check in services, but it is in the process of pilot testing self check-in services for passengers at the Mehrabad Airport in Tehran. The ground staff at airports are well trained in check-in codes and conduct, and could also assist in special passenger handling such as disabled passengers or unaccompanied minors for example. The airline's personnel at the airports also run the baggage claim services very efficiently. You can use your Iran Air PNR status to check the status of your reservation at any time before leaving for the airport.
On board the aircraft, the excellent service by the cabin crew is sure to provide you a pleasant travel experience. You may order special meals on board due to religious or medical reasons, and these must be asked for at least 48 hours in advance with the airline. Homa or First Class passengers could choose their preference from an extensive menu and also be recipients of thoughtfully prepared gift bags, flowers and saffron. The Iran Air baggage allowance on International flights of the airline is 30 kg for Economy and 40 kg for Homa Class.
