Consumers rated various players in the online travel category based on 19 distinct parameters that measures ‘user friendliness’ and ‘satisfactory usage experience’ of a website. Cleartrip emerged as a clear winner in overall ‘Website User Friendliness’ (WUF) index beating all its competitors in the segment.

The JuxtConsult research conducted on the online travel portals involved all the leading players in the segment – Cleartrip, Makemytrip, Yatra, Travelguru and Indiatimes Travel. To measure the ‘Website User–Friendliness’ Index, respondents were asked to rate the travel portals on 19 distinct parameters under 4 categories: ease of access, design appeal, ease of usage and usage satisfaction.

Speaking about the research results, Mr. Sandeep Murthy, CEO, Cleartrip.com said, “The results of JuxtConsult research has proven our belief that simple user interface and effective use of technology can bring you consumers for life. We have more than 70% of our consumers coming back to us again and again not only for best deals but also for faster, safer and quicker bookings. Such endorsements will motivate us to strive harder to maintain the consumer friendly approach and make their travel simple.”

Explaining the concept of “user–friendliness” of websites, Sanjay Tiwari, Director and CEO of JuxtConsult, said,” Like in human interaction we identify someone as ‘friendly’ only when that person firstly ‘looks’ friendly to us and then ‘behaves’ friendly towards us, similarly in our interaction with websites, we treat a website as ‘friendly’ only when it both looks pleasant and appealing to us and is easy and convenient to use. Accordingly, this study measures and reports the ‘user–friendliness’ of a website taking into account both in its look factors as well as its usability factors”.
