New Delhi, December 5 , 2007 : Cleatrip.com in association with Deccan, today in a press conference together in New Delhi, the 4 lucky winners of its unique – “Slap Me Hard” promotion, setting a benchmark for offers and deals in the travel segment. Cleartrip’s mantra to acquire customers is to get close to them in every way possible. With a USD 20 billion travel market, Cleartrip is moving in fast pace to tap this potential audience. Their two instant strategies are a recent tie–up with Future Group to set up kiosks across 70 big bazaar outlets across 46 cities and opening their first airport outlet at the Hyderabad Airport.

Addressing the media at the press conference Mr. Sandeep Murthy, CEO, Cleartrip.com said, “We at cleartrip.com believe in constant innovation and excitement. It is these two principles that guide us when we decide on what best we can offer our customers. With the “SLAP ME HARD” offer we set a new benchmark in the industry by giving away the biggest reward by any travel company till date. The association with Deccan was perfect as they share a unique bond with their customers which was a vital role in the success of this offer

We used this offer to say ‘Thank you’ to customers for their patronage and feedback. These innovative strategies are a reflection of the innovative deals that has enabled us service 1 million trips in just 6 months. This has resulted in Cleartrip.com owning 35% of the market. We are expecting to close this fiscal (March 2008) with a Rs. 700cr turnover.

Capt. G.R Gopinath Executive Chairman Deccan Aviation said “Being the first airline in India to adopt e ticketing, we recognize the crucial role of online ticketing in fuelling the demand for air travel .While inthe past four years the OTA industry has grown at a phenomenal pace, Cleartrip’s simplicity in navigation, intuitive interface and ability to innovate with deals has given them the edge in this competitive business domain. Deccan’s association with Clear trip is pursuant to our commitment to provide affordable and accessible air travel. Given that a sizeable number of our passengers book through cleartrip our participation in the “Slap me hard offer” fit the bill perfectly. The offer has generated a lot of excitement amongst our passengers and also encouraged people to experience Deccan.”

Cheap fares and discounted hotel rates alone are no longer enough to get the sales graph going up for the OTAs. It is offers like these that attract new customers to try the online medium for making their travel bookings. Keeping in tune with this trend, Cleartrip.com has capitalized every opportunity and introduced many such offers for its customers till date giving away freebies like mobile phones, ipods, free fuel and many such attractive gifts. Result – “SLAP ME HARD” offer alone rose the number of tickets with a 25%

Cleartrip will continue to launch innovative and disruptive offers over the next 18 months and make the booking experience truly rewarding for customers. Offers and deals like this create tremendous stickiness for the brand that has resulted in Cleartrip having over 72% repeat business.
