Carpathian National Natural Park (CNNP), which at 503 sq km (194 sq mi) is Ukraine's largest such park, protects wolves, brown bears, lynx, bison and deer. Hutsuls, a people descended from a nomadic horde, still live in the park, and the country's highest peak, the 2061m (6760ft) Mt Hoverla, is here as well. In summer the park is a busy hiking area.
