One of the most pristine areas in Slovenia, Kočevski Rog has been a protected nature area for more than 100 years; six virgin forests, cover an area of more than 200ha (494ac). It is also the site of Baza 20, the nerve centre of the partisan resistance in WWII. It's been left to go to wrack and ruin lately but is still worth a visit.
