The Rijksmuseum is the country's premier art museum. Until 2008 the museum will undergo a massive refurbishment, and visitors will have to make do with 200 masterpieces from five major collections. If all goes well, the entire building will be returned to its original 1885 glory. And in the meantime the exterior remains as sumptuous as ever.
