Fewer than 2000 people live in this sleepy town, the main street a stone's throw end to end. Although salt has long been the island's breadwinner, the town's name (Dutch for coral reef) reveals that it's the capital of diving.
Follow the recommended walking tour pamphlet (from the tourist office) and you will wind your way through the town's modest attractions, such as the 19th-century Fort Oranje (now the Harbour Office) and its adjacent lighthouse and the museum, which traces the history of the Caiquetio Indians.
