Malta's hot, dry summers can sometimes heighten in discomfort owing to the sirocco wind but are otherwise a sunny Mediterranean treat. Conditions are also pleasant in winter with January averaging in a mild range of 10-14°C (50-58°F), less than half that of July, when daytime temperatures hover around 36°C (97°F). The rain is heaviest in winter but is still only moderate, with most days of the month still dry.
