Night life is Chennai is alive and vibrant with numerous pubs and discotheques opening up in the city every year. The crowd usually consists of college students while on weekends, young professionals let their hair down and give in to their favourite Techno and Trance music. The most popular nightspots in the city are Gatsby 2000 at Park Sheraton, Hell Freezes Over at Hotel Quality Aruna Inn, EC41, the open-air dance floor at MGM Beach resorts and Socko at Ambassador Pallava. 24-hr coffeeshops are another favourite with Chennai's youth. A more unconventional but just as enjoyable way to spend the night is to head down to Marina beach with a picnic hamper in hand and a couple of foldable chairs.
